Gee, so does This motherboard. (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-123-198&catalog=22&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=1)

And what do ya know, its nearly 20 dollars less.

And it has rounded cables instead of ribbon cables.
And it has active northbridge cooling instead of passive.
And it ACTUALLY HAS SOUTHBRIDGE COOLING.

Serial ATA technology
Serial ATA is the next generation ATA specification that provides scalable performance for today and tomorrow. With up to 150MB/s data transfer rate, Serial ATA is faster than current Parallel ATA, while providing 100% software compatibility.

None of them seem to have Nforce, so go figure on that.

And btw, about the Sertial ATA bs, have you guys looked at any retail drives, (over the 140Gb) that actually use the Serial ATA? THEY ALL COME WITH THEIR OWN CONTROLLER CARDS!!!!

My point is, onboard sertial ATA, shouldnt be that big of a concern, you can buy a 20 dollar ad on card for it, or, if you buy a drive retail, it will probably come with its own controller card.

Things like dual channel ram, the chipset itself (nforce2 Ultra 400 right now), and other things, should be your Point of Sale on a motherboard right now.

Tha A7N8X is only $20 more and right after xmas it was only $83. The gigabyte has daul channel..pretty ugly tho. Orange, bright yellow and lime green..ugh

Keikan
01-05-2004, 06:14 AM
not where i live tere's a big price difference and I don't care about ugliness green purple lime... really aslong as it's fast and stable wiht no problemos.

Actually what I really want to buy is an abit board... too bad :(

DarthInsinuate
01-05-2004, 03:14 PM
i would go with the single channel board its only a little slower but the board and one stick of RAM is cheaper than dual-channel and two sticks of identical RAM

also the KT400 board is even cheaper than the Nforce2 400, slower obviously and it doesn't truely support DDR400

your money, your choice, not bigdawgfoxx's

DWk
01-05-2004, 03:34 PM
yea my board is based on VIA KT400 chipset.... and i havent had any trouble AT ALL.... have had it for a year now and it can last longer cuz i recently flashed (updated) the bios and now it can support updates to a 3000+ cpu...

which is awesome :)
