Gator Becomes Claria

The Gator Corporation is going through a renaming to Claria. The company has been the target of several lawsuits by companies that felt the Gator pop-up network effectively stole user attention from their publishing or advertising sites. Several of these have been settled already, but the predatory connotations of Gator probably don't help from a brand perspective. The company has also had a very difficult time distinguishing its disclosure-festooned adware from the more sleazy versions produced by other companies that have earned the name spyware.

Im pretty sure you could classify &#39;Gator&#39; (or &#39;Claria&#39;, if thats what you prefer) as a virus. Mind you, that applies to most adware and spyware.

that depends, why don&#39;t you try to install gator (or whatever they call it) and look into the user aggreement, by clicking yes(which most poeple do with no troubles) it says that you agree to have certian things happen on yur computer to help gator fubnction it is said.. like gather personal information, embed itself into the sys so that it is more "secure" ... :frusty: progs with gator in it woith out sayingf it is there actually do say it is there on that part... gotta be more aware guys... :lol:
