I've just been using frontpage 2000 and want to get my hands on something better.

Any suggestions?

depends....do you write html code or do it as a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor?

if its html then try:
AceHTML
EditPlus

if its WYSIWYG:
FrontPage
Dreamweaver

if you want both:
FrontPage
Dreamweaver

i use acehtml, editplus, and frontpage...no need for dreamweaver.... they all work like a charm :)

Dreamweaver MX is the way to go. I use Frontpage to add quick things. But it adds a lot junk code.

Notepad is alright for code. But GnuEMACS is a charm.

:P Damn, must I always be the oddball?? I've been using CoffeeCUp 9 for a while. Easy to use for the newbies like prewritten Java, CGI scripts and Flash (Counters, cookies and banners to name a few). It even has FTP support built in. I still use SmartFTP, but it's nice to have a backup.

It has a huge supply of plugins as well. They're not free though.

It's on Kazaa K++ with plenty of sources. Dreamweaver is kickass, though it's learning curve is a bit steap if you're new to web design. :01:

Throw Frontpage in the bin. Here's how the professionals do it..

CODE
Dreamweaver
Notepad

NAVIGATION
Flash
Notepad (for java)

IMAGES - PHOTOGRAPHIC
Photoshop

IMAGES - VECTOR
Fireworks
Freehand
Illustrator

IMAGE LAYOUT
Fireworks

IMAGE OPTIMISATION
Photoshop
Image Ready

That's just a basic HTML site, if you want SQL ASP etc we're talking a whole other language.

I am getting along alright with dreamweaver so far, thanks to those who reccomended it. I am a little hung up putting audio on the site though. do i need to download some plugins? I want viewers to be able to hear audio and watch video clips with their choice of format? any help on that would be appreciated. thanks
