Wow, I just finnaly saw the news that isonews.com was shut down back in december while I was offline. Bummer there.

But anyways, I guess my question is, were they mainly shut down because of the news on Ware* releases, and such, or because of the selling of mod chips which i read about?

If its the first option, that is in a way something that is done here, along with many other places.

Any worries about this type of activity?

No worries about either. Mod-chips are not illegal, though they may void the warranty of the machine that it is installed into.

On another note, pressure from outside sources could make it difficult for sites like isonews.com to operate, however, unless they provide files or links to files, they should be fine. As always, your anonymous donation is always appreciated, as they are paying for your bandwidth as you browse. --

Filenexus seems to have had a few problems but they say they will be back http://www.filenexus.com/ - there does seem to be a lot of cracking down on certain activities at the moment. Has anyone else noted all the coversites seem to be having a big prob too!

If you want audio covers go to Cover Target (http://covertarget.com/).

Why is selling a mod chip illegal. Its just plastic and metal.

If the person who owns the hardware wants to solder things into it then that is their business. If I want to change the shock absorbers on my car then it is no-ones business but mine. This is no different.

If I buy something then I own it. If I want to change it then it has nothing to do with anyone else.

If I do it during the warranty period, then the warranty is invalid. That is my problem, no-one else's.

Why are bombs illegal? Its just a little plutonium.

Anyway, the selling mod-chips is not illegal, but advertising a mod chip as a way to defeat source code for the use of "playing pirated software" is illegal.--
