it has one of those folders where you try to delete the files but they just come back, and it's not listed in the Add/Remove programs.

There's a Windows NT and Windows Media Player folder in my program files.

As explained a million times previously... you can't remove Windows Media Player. It is an intregal part of the Windows OS, such as Internet Explorer that it can't be removed. If you have a problem with the software, ensure you have the latest version, and use another media player.

it's the list that shows you all the software you have installed on your comp and where you can alter, delete or ad software.

@Pinko_X: why do you want to uninstall the Windows media?
Can't you just not use it?

Anyway,I'm not sure if you can uninstall it since it's a part of the package.

This does not cleanly- uninstall it- you have to manually delete
C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player
and run a registry cleaner afterwards
(there are more references to it elswhere but its too complex)

i dunno, something to do :D

okay, how about a registry cleaner?
i know of tweak xp, but preferably without having to install more software just to clean registry files.

the thing is i only have 2.70 GB left on my hard drive :(

RegSeeker (http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm) is the best Registry Cleaner I've found. Free, small and no install neccesary.

Hmm.. I tried using XpLite to remove WMP 9, but it caused some problems, but I really hate the player. I think I'll try something else.

Try Media Player Classic, FKDUP74. It seems to do damn near anything.
BS PLayer is good too.
For music, I found Winamp 5 to work pretty well, though
