this is gonna sound n00bish, well, cause it is :lol: :lol: :lol: :unsure: .....

got a couple of vids off emule, supposedly in .avi format
wmp cant handle em, plays sound but no video
d/l'ed bs player, but it says "unknown file format (DIV3)"
er, where did i f*ck up? :blink:

only experience is with apps & music, so, :helpsmile: :D

if this helps, its wmp8 and the latest bsplayer (just got it today, so REAL n00bish on that one) didnt see any codec links on bs's page :unsure:

There is a Kl codec pack, have you installed that?

nope, guess i'll look for them next
that doesnt only have to do with klite? :unsure:
maybe a dumb question, but havent needed em before,

Coodecs are like a bunch of little mini-programs that playback software uses to work out how to play a particular type of movie or audio file. For instance, somewhere you have an mp3 codec installed that tells winamp, media player, and all the rest how to get from that mp3 to something you can listen to.

The error your getting is just your player telling you "Oi, i can see the file, but i dont know how to use it!". So, tell it - get the codec installed. :)

just havent had to mess with video codecs before :lol:
i found the kl codecs, see if that helps :)

yep, the kl pack did the trick :D
always had all the audio codec support i needed with dbpoweramp,
so this was some new territory for me :P

unlike mpeg 1 and 2 (which are standards) .avi files can require so many different types of codecs, but by far the most widely used are Divx and Xvid (both based on mpeg 4), so these codecs are essential for watching downloaded movies from P2P clients.

yeah, learnin that the hard way :P :lol:

i mean, ive gotten vid clips from klite before and hadnt run into
any probs, so i was like, wtf? :o

problem solved though, thanks everyone B)

use video lan for all videos
