OCR is the latest scene ripping group and are taking requests from members of the k-lite forum for cd's they want. these can be rips which were either of inferior quality or have not been ripped before. please keep your requests for albums in this thread.

OCR stands for obsessive compulsive ripping. i don't know how much i am allowed to say i will have to speak to jibbler tonight, but he wanted me to make this thread so people can request albums be ripped by scene standards.

Yes, that's right GS! Basically, OCR is an internal ripping group, which means we release outside of the regular mp3 scene. We do this purely for the public, so you can hear that hard-to-find album or that release you could never find the scene rip of. These are the actual retails of albums at proper quality standards so you can decide whether you really want to buy them or not; all without asking for anything in return.

A few of us have been trading a few rips amongst ourselves, and now we are expanding our services to all of you. We all have large CD collections we can rip to mp3, but are willing to fill requests whenever possible. A database of all our rips will eventually be available online. Until that time, they are circulating slowly around our SS room. :music1:

i noticed a real difference and that is why i am never going back to cbr. maybe a decent soundcard and set of speakers show that.

I do have to admit, a nice set of speakers and soundcard do make a huge difference. This VBR, at least by design, is no different than it was a year ago, except that Lame has been tweaked a bit more, and the samples are really impressive. I find the biggest noticable difference comes when burning the files back to disk. The VBR sounds pretty damn crisp. :music1:

what network are these files being released on?
neither fasttrack or soulseek are really very good for such...as one doesn't support sharing partial downloads, and the other doesn't support
multi-source at all....

Good One Guys. Lame VBR has been around a long time, nothing new. For doing quality rips it is great. Usually better sound than 192 bit rate and usually a smaller file size. I use Poikosoft CD/DA Extractor to rip with because you can use the LAME configurator to edit all the properties of the rip. Can go up to 48,000 sample rate in either CBR or VBR. I got the trial version and liked it well enough to shell out the 25 bucks to buy the fully functional version. VBR is by far the best sounding rip for the file size but the stuff I rip just so share on FT I make em 192 because FT does not show the bitrate on VBR files so not too many up them from me and they don't spread like 192s. Anyway thanks for the work you all are doing, it is much appreciated and if ya get the new Incubus~A Crow Left Of The Murder hook us up cause I only have Megalomaniac so far. I get allot of pre release stuff so if ya ever need anything not yet released lemme know and I,ll be glad to send it your way.

Thanks

This would be absolutely INCREDIBLE - if anyone has a copy of it - which I seriously doubt, but am VERY hopeful of:

Brewer and Shipley - Tarkio

http://www.brewerandshipley.com/images/tarkiobig.jpg

1. One Toke Over the Line
2. Song From Platte River
3. The Light
4. Ruby on the Morning
5. Oh, Mommy
6. Don't Want to Die in Georgia
7. Can't Go Home
8. Tarkio Road
9. Seems Like a Long Time
10. Fifty States of Freedom

Kama Sutra Records
Released 1970
Produced by Nick Gravenites
Photos by Mort, Gary Peterson, Tom Shipley
Engineered by Stephen Barncard
All Songs Written by M. Brewer and T. Shipley
Published by Talking Beaver Music (now BMG) except "All Along the Watchtower," written by Bob Dylan, published by Dwarf Music and "Wichi Tai To," written by Jim Pepper, published by Lovetruth Music

NOTE: A used copy (on vinyl) sells for about $100.00, so this would be a HUGE find.

Yeah I've tried that. I even went as far as underclocking my system (running it at a lower cpu and ram speed) I'm gonna install windows 98 on a separate partiion and move all my mp3s to FAT32 I'm hoping for this weekend so I'll see you then (I can run 24/7 :) )

Yeah man crystal.
I'm thinking though it might be better for OCR to post what they can realease rather than requests.
We could post the most newest or most obsure shit for ripping and not see it.
So maybe I'm thinking a this is what OCR got for you rather than requests.
Even if we're not talking exact bands maybe just genre, get us into some new shit we aint heard before, you know?

Jayhawk

ok everyone dont forget this is still in the process of being completed

our final guide is still not out so not all the rippers know exactly how to do everything we are coming very close and all the rippers are having to send stuff to Jibbler who then sends it back and it has been a slow process as he is busy and i am the only one with decent upload speeds.

We currently are making a database for all of our rips. Which will becoming shortly and the public will be able to access this. Also we are in the works of something maybe a FTP Server more details will be coming soon. But I just ask patience from everyone cause we are trying to do a good thing. It is very time consuming for us. But we are up to the challenge.

Remember we do not have all these cds that are being requested and until everything is complete and we have more rippers and everything this could be even more diffuclt.

Thanks

Jayhawk

Things are moving along nicely... though slow, sorry....

anyway.. once the guide is finished, this project should run itself.. sounds like you guys are requesting some real rarities, sure hope someone can eventually fill em for ya.. in the meantime, lots of good shit is being ripped so stay tuned... i see we have some rap fans in our little posse, some 80s rockers (myself), and lots more. Good things are on the way.

One final thought, those with the rip kit, please don't share anything publically that hasn't been officially released.. at least, not with the OCR tag. :01:
