ok well i realized that my idle temps on my computer where a little high and my cpu was near 60 on load so i decided to cool. Im starting with cables and heres what i did, i didn't wanna spen hours doing this so im only measuring my idle temps

i turned my floppy cable into a rounded one with a knife and some duct tape and while it did not affect my cpu or motherboard there are still 5 more cables or so..... but the point is before both my hds were at 42C but after hd1 went to 35c and hd0 went down to 30C, it seemed a little drastic but now im gonna do the other cables any thoughts? advice?

go to bestbuy and grab yourself some fans....there really no otehr way to cool your comp.

i dont get how round cables cool your comp though

yea they dunt cool ur computer but they are thin....so they dunt come in the way of any airflow....

so they give better airflow :)

well ill goto bestbuy someday but if doing stuff with household items gets it cool why spend money, maybe my cable jungle is preventing airflow causeing the heat?

wouldn't it be nice if they made a lil window on the case casing in case ur playing quake 3 or something u open the lil window and watch the temp drop!!!

no additional hardware needed

unless you have a really tiny case, i dont thinkg the cables are going to matter that much (meaning it matter, but not much) fans are really cheap these days...you can get 2 for under $15

oh yea, at james, they have....and its called hte side panel

omg i swear that idea was original...

didn't know they even existed lol

i bought a really expensive fan 30 dollars canadian

but it's a smart fan, if temp goes up fan goes faster

but it helped my computer to stay 10 degrees cooler

Duffman

well ill buy one like that

about 20 i think, and a fan alone is like 15 bucks and the speed ocntroller is like 40 or 50 so thats not a bad deal... unless u start buying more than 1 fan.

lol about 30% less i believe so its about a 22 dolar fan

best advice we can give you is to clean up cables and place fans in air flow...dont put 5 blow hole fans on top and one 40mm on side for intake...

btw, buy come pre-wrapped IDE cables, i got em and i tuck the ecess in the side...looks clean and nice glow with neon...

i don't care what it looks i just want it to be at normal temps

maybe the temps are so high because the heasync fan isnt installed properly or there isnt ebough thermal paste\no thermal paste. You could buy that prety cheap or even get a whole new heatsync and that might fix ur heat problems or just buy some case fans and clean up the wires...

well its stock cooling and i added a dvd burner and a new 7200 rmp hd and a video card

tesco

well if ur using stock cooling its most likely a thermal pad so i would seriously consider getting some thermal paste it could lower ur temps buy a lot if there is currently not enough contact with the core. But then again it could just be that the case is getting really hot on the inside and thats not letting the heat get away form the processor area.

so clean and bautiful :) i wish i had the money to buy all those accessories that make the case look cleaner like lights, nice case, rounded cables, those meshes for the power supply wires and all thoise goodies...that'd be sweet.

ok 1 more cable rounded hds steady at 40 for some reason so the 35s were a fluke, but but but but the motherboard went down a degree and so did the lm80, although i don't know what it is

Look, dont even bother with HD temps, if its defective, it will overheat and fail. It wont overheat if you have a cool case, and it works fine.

With that in mind, what are your Motherboard temps,
and CPu temps.

And clock settings for the CPU btw, as well as cooling.

well bottom line i managed to shave 1degree of my mother board idle, and that is 30degrees celsius on an amd 1800 runing at the normail 1.53ghz
edit it was 58 under load now its 57

What motherboard do you have, and what are you using to monitor it?

It might just be the mofsets that are giving that 30C degree reading. Yuo can just put on some Ramheatsinks to lower it if thats the case.

to tell the truth i downloaded aida32 and then found out i had temp sensors and its a compaq 6016us motherboard
