do they let you do it? i want to play cs and somebody stole my cs keys so im thinking of buying the game, get the cd key, and than 2 minutes later, go back, and say "my mom just got this for me and its the wrong game, can i get my money back?"

or i could just try to reseal the sticker on the box.....have you guys ever successfully return a game?"

dont say "just buy the game you cheap bastard".....i did, and my keys got jacked...and i dont want to spend another $30 for some numbers...but i would sure love to go back to my clan....AmF (Angry Mother Fucker) lol.

hmmm, should i help u or not??

if the game isnt physically open, meaning the box is but not the plastic wrap on the box, then they prolly will, u might need to find a stupid employe, (most common are girls that work at returns)...but make a convincin story

I don't know about where you live, but where I am, you can't return games. If stores allowed you to return games, people would just buy games, burn them, and return them saying "It doesn't work" or something like that. Once I bought this cheap game for $10 (don't remember what, it was a long time ago), and it didn't work (really), so I tried to return it, and the bastards wouldn't take it back! <_<

KrackHead, here in Britain theres a 14 days return policy. If you're not satisfied with the quality of the product within 14 days of use, you can take it back. You aren't allowed to buy something, mangle and destroy it, then take it back though :(

Plus, we can call trading standards if anyone screws us over like you were.

Why are you being such an arsehole to the guy?

Oh yes, Mr Elmo. About your stolen CD keys, call Valve and tell them to get you a new key. Its worked for a couple of friends and another guy I met over the internet.

Ah but I think you will find alot of shops eg Argos and Asda to name two, won't let you return music CD's or Games for the exact reason that Krackhead said.

Then you call trading standards. If they don't let you return it set Trading Standards on them, like I said.

So because you got screwed you want to turn around and screw someone else? I think that sucks. My dad just bought Call of Duty at Wal-Mart and when he got it home, he noticed the box was taped shut. He opened it and sure enough the CD Key was missing. Assholes who do shit like that really piss me off. If you're going to go that far, why not simple shoplift the entire game? When you download a game you're not really hurting anybody, but when you steal a CD Key you are screwing another individual who used their hard earned money to buy the game - which is just what you should do if you want to play online.

If you lose your CD key to somebody else's keygen call the publisher of the game. A number should be included in documentation that came with the game etc.

Generally, the games get sent back to manufacturers if they are a corrupted CD. They should only be resold as cleary notified "factory refurbs" or something like that.

They're being idiots. If they don't do anything, then sue them.

Ooh, actually you might have to call VU Games actually.

5 finger discount from Wall-Mart is all you need. :-"

1) Almost every employee there is a moron.
2) Every Wall-Mart I've been in is trashy.
3) Wall-Mart is a crap corporation so it should you make feel better to get justice against this retard of a store.

I don't know about other games, but the manual for Call of Duty clearly states that if you lose your CD Key you WILL NOT be given a new one. That's why whenever I buy a game that requires a key, I write it down somewhere inside the manual, which I usually keep in my filing cabinet, and I also type it into an encrypted database on my PC. I've never lost a key in over 20 years of gaming.

Didn't read much of the thread cos I'm in a hurry but when I need to take a game back I get my sister, girlfriend or better yet my mother to take it back for me. For some reason women are much better at these sorts of things and the sales assistants rarely believe they are "pulling a fast one."

And best of all women usually carriy on arguing until they get their way just to shut them up and get rid of them. (sexist maybe, true defiently).
