Does your comp ask for the original installation disk when the error comes up? Having your original OS disk is always a good idea.
Going to Windows Update may fix the problem, but I've never heard of this happening before.

It might help to know what version of Windows you have.

If you have Windows 9x, Me, NT 4.0, or 2000...download one of the following:
Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable for Windows 95, 98, and Me (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=cebbacd8-c094-4255-b702-de3bb768148f&DisplayLang=en)
Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable for Windows NT 4.0 and 2000 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4b6140f9-2d36-4977-8fa1-6f8a0f5dca8f&DisplayLang=en)

If you have Windows XP, try the following:

copy this file from your CD installation in the I386 folder, there may be an I386 folder in your computer, anyway copy this msiexec.exe file into your windows\system32 folder that may solve it too.
