I currently have a 8X4X32X HP cd-writer. This writer doesnt come with burnproof/justlink features and cant bypass any cd-protections. I have some games I wish to copy and know k++ users are smarter than the average person when it comes to pc's.
What cd-writer would u reccommend that can defeat the latest game/cd protections? I know there r other users who may want this info also.

I have a Lite-on 52x24x52 and it works great for me.
To copy games I would recommend you download clonecd. In combination with ClonyXXL it should get over every copy-protection. :)
I hope this was helpfull in any way. ;)

its not the cd burnner that stops you from bypassing cd-protections its the program it uses, you can download many progys that will work with your burner (alcohol, cdclone)are very good at defeating cd protections B)

Check out LG at: http://www.lgeus.com/Product/CD/cdrom_main.asp
I have both a Plextor and an LG. Both work perfectly but the Plextor was super expensive.

Im currently using Nero 5.5.9 and rarely use Clone Cd , my writer doesnt support its features. But I hear good things about Alcohol software. Im leaning toward a Lite-on, I see online that their cheaper than Plextor's products.

I agree, Acer makes some of the best damn drives on the market. I have yet to find something that I can't copy with this drive.--

I've had an old LG (4x4x32) for a few years, in coordination with NERO. I always copy the contents of a CD to my hard drive first, manually, not using NERO and have never had any problems with copy protection.
I find it better to rip a music cd to hdd as well before you burn it, you've got a chance of fixing possible errors then.

This is not true. Clone CD will not 'pass' all protections on all hardware.

I hear that you guys are recommending Acer cd-writers, could you be a little more specific. Like the model number, and Ive tried using CloneCD and have failed trying to copy a working version of The Sims-Hot Date. My writer is about to be 2 1/2 -3 years old.

Have you checked to see about a firmware (http://www.hp.com/cposupport/information_storage/support_doc/lpg40494.html#P27_2656) upgrade for your drive. In some instances that will improve drives as flashing of the rom provides additional performance or compatibility for the drive, although not always, but a good place to start before buying another............Acer may be a Name brand, but Liteon is a very reasonable drive and works just as good as an Acer........'Note' its not the name that should be considered but how the hardware performs.............
Check out some cdr drive reviews (http://www.cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom...d_reviews.shtml)
so anywayz howz sony as a cdrw how long it lasts?
n is a element cd rom drive good?

Very important TIP when bypassing copy protection. Always burn at the slow speed. Use quality CDRs, like Princo Brand. Always copy to hard drive, never copy-on-the-fly, because you loose the "errors".
Errors are a form of copy protection. For example, Playstation game disks have 3 errors at the beginning. This is intentional. It is a signature that tells the console that it is a valid PlayStation disk.
Some programs, like GoldenHawk CDRWIN, will need the ERROR correction turned off or set to accept atleast 50 errors.
Burn proofing is a plus!
Use a software program that has a COPY mode. This will copy all tracks (DATA and Audio) properly. Using a program like ROXIO Easy CD Creator, and making a normal DATA disk, by dragging all files into the copy area will not work.
Use a program like CDCLONE. It is better.
I use a PLEXTOR burner, and make very successful burns, specially on PlayStation1 disks. PLEXTOR is an expensive brand, but worth the money.
Use the burner as the SOURCE and DESTINATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This ensures compatible copy/burning.
cd clone does cd to cd only doesnt it and not hard drive to cd...

Sure it does!
Besides, use the CD Burner as the source and Destination.
