right whilst speaking to gutter on msn, we were wondering how long it would take to send him via modem, face suggested that there are 7,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
atoms in the human body
assuming a one to one ratio, bits to atoms. i know this is probably quite ridiculous as a font 8 typing out of 0 or 1 you could fit millions of atoms on, but for my sake bear with me.

ok so 7,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 atoms divided by 8, for 8 bits in a byte
=875000000000000000000000000 Atoms (notice the capital A)

875000000000000000000000000/1048 for 1048bytes in a kilobyte
=834923664122137404580152.67175573 KAtoms

now
assuming gutter got his maxiumum bandwidth from the connection and there was no lag. 56.6KB/s = 56,600B/s=

so 56.6k=1 second to transfer
834923664122137404580152.67175573 =x seconds to transfer

x therefore = 834923664122137404580152.67175573 /56.6

=14751301486256844603889.623175896 seconds /60
=245855024770947410064.8270529316 minutes /60
=4097583746182456834.4137842155266 hours /24
=170732656090935701.43390767564694 days /365
=467760701619001.92173673335793683 years / 1000
=467760701619.00192173673335793683 Centuries

So if anyone has a spare 46.7^10 centuries and you wanna give it a try, give me a shout.
p.s it will involve 100,000 million centuries and a lot of pain.

p.s.s maybe gutter should get broadband.

you might have to re-calculate as the 56k is split between down and upload not sure on the ratio but it downloads a lot faster than it uploads probably a 15-1 ratio or there abouts.(i'm sure someone will be able to give a benchmark to work from)
so you will need a couple extra teabags for the wait

of course you could try using winzip or winrar to compress him first...

edit....do you have enough space on your hard drive?

i realise that, but i have taken it as an ideal value, including the disappearance of lag in the cables. at present i am downloading off him at 1k/s only another 70mb to go.

A 56k modem is in bits/sec, not bytes so you need to multiply all that up by 8.

To get that down to a reasonable level, you would need such a massive amount of bandwidth that the whole internet would be stuffed. Far better idea to kill him, transport his body in a box (frozen) and wait for someone to work out how to resuscitate him (or not if you prefer :D ).

Well, you'd have to convert him to electrons first.

Try sticking a power cable up his arse and see what happens. >_<

we were wonderign how long it would take to send gutterover the internet so he could come to the party in scotland. he is apparently trying to hold his own party with FC and Jayhawk and then video conference with us in glasgow.
