wtheck is a hash?
read about verifieds and hashing here (http://filesharingtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=54240)
visually something like this:
http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~cd197/Programzas/VBasic/Dir2sig/dir2sig_protocol.gif

dir2sig is a special dir2html (http://dir2html.tk) compiled for quick hash making for folders

some sites where you can get it:
http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~cd197/Programzas/VBasic/Dir2sig/
http://klitekpp.uw.hu/Dir2sig/index.html

1. installation
copy the two files (i mean exe and dll) to a desired location, try to run dir2sig.exe by double clicking on it :D
If you get a error message you're missing some VB dll's than install these vb libs:
http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~cd197/Programzas/V.../VBRun60sp5.exe (http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~cd197/Programzas/VBasic/VBRun60sp5.exe)
or download the new ones from microsofts web.

also make sure
http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~cd197/Programzas/V...rchive/hash.dll (http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~cd197/Programzas/VBasic/Dir2html/archive/hash.dll)
are in the same folder as dir2sig.exe (credits2 rocko for this dll)

If you want to make sig2dat hashes then:
-----------------------------------------------------
2. making the html file
option1:
choose a folder, press 'make'.
http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~cd197/Programzas/VBasic/Dir2sig/dir2sig.gif
OR

option2:
go to folder and press dir2sig in context menu.
http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~cd197/Programzas/VBasic/Dir2sig/dir2sig_context.gif

now

a html file will open in browser
you can upload it somwhere and post a link here OR

3. How to post on boards:
edited***

just ctrl-a and ctrl-c everything in notepad and ctl-v it here
in englisho copy paste the text u get from notepad to the board

your post will look like this:

cselik, why don't you make board code directly, instead all those htm code? but hey it's just my opinion for improvement

no, it doesnt handle protocol and doesnt make dat files (at least the released does not), you still need sig2dat or ksig to do that for you.

sig2dat is at http://www.geocities.com/vlaibb/

dir2sig is at dir2sig's homepage :) (http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~cd197/Programzas/VBasic/Dir2sig/index.html)

ksig is in your startmenu, hopefully

this is if u want to make hashes fast and post them or upload them or if you hate windows common-controls 'open' and u dont want to frustrate downloaders with making them enter hash manually yep and size.

in my opinion 100% of thou who have kazaa also have a browser and hashes circulate throu www mostly today, so i believe downloads should be initialized with a single click, ~ goes for the hash making too.

edited** you can do all this with ksig , (lot of clicking) , but its not so obvious for users especially the ones that are not familiar with html.

updates
1.
After reading books of how modern search engines work i've embeded some meta tags, this is good for webmasters who wish to host verifieds to get a better site rating, ie higher rank in google. Bear in mind that google deletes 'cheater' meta tags, so be carefull not to duplicate keywords.

2.
code is now w3c compilant.

3.
due to complains that some couldn't hash files from a cd because it's readonly, and previous versions of dir2sig wtote the files in the current directory only, i've embeded some options solving that problem.

you can choose from:
%temp% - if you wanna post the info and loose the file.
current - if you want the html file in the same folder as files are
working - if you want the html file in the dir2sig's working dir, creating a local library.
specify - whereev'a

4.
something big is comming up. what will it be? a media library with an add free local search engine querying a global verified hash search engines. Can't tell u more for now. mmm sounds yummy
stay tuned.

some componensts form dir2sig have migrated to hash server, a HTTP server which recursively serves sig2dat links of your "my shared folder", (or any other but it would not make much sence)

beta 0.2 is available for testing:

the link
http://klitekpp.uw.hu/hashserv/index.html

the howto:
stop the service
select your shared folder under config
make sure to have only folders or some really SMALL files there, (you CAN select a subfolder ie. "music" inside your shared folder), so index page would be generated fast.
selsct port 80 if you want it directly available through anyone's browser
(re) start the server

dumps of sent sig2dat stuff will be stored in the wwwroot, and will not be shared nor hashed, so feel free to delete them, they are sorely for debug purposes.

the future:
there should be an iternal AND external 2way search engine, conecting to whatabig and/or other www, sending your search queries to whatabig and accepting whatabigs queries from www search users. this depends on whatabig admin's will & bandwidth and my exams :D this summer. Stay tooned.

for now enjoy your shared folder in a browser and/or serve verifieds it to websites.

please send bugreports, feature requests, new ideas here in this thread.

Good job on dir2sig B)

But the hashserver...what about security?

I'm sure organisations like RIAA will love it. Makes it pretty easy to find out what people have in their shared folder <_<

*cough scanning port 80 cough*

And as the index files are placed in the My Shared Folder, everyone can search for them with Kazaa if people don't disable sharing of those files.

if you mean http security this server will not execute any external code, nor can it read/wtite the disk, only reads and hashes stuff inside "shared folder".

i didn't say users must choose the whole "my shared folder" nor port 80, only a subfolder which they feel beeing served.

im allready working to send 403 to ranges which the bad ip updater fetches, =sever will fetch itself from time to time. there IS a blocker allready working, only not so convinient.

but: my main idea here is not privacy: people fearing riaa and mpaa will never even download the server. my idea here is fastrack's illness for not supporting collections, ie: to see which song(s) are missing from the album.

what people did was shoot up a browser and do a search for the album's songs, & got many popups "BUY this" "BUY that" to find out what are they missing, /*not allways sucesfully*/, and finaly do a search inside kazaa for each and every missing song.

this goes to any other content which is shared in pieces, and is worth much more inside a collection.

and even is someone doesn't want to serve: he/she can take the dumped html files, customise them and upload them somewhere. i personaly think it's still more convinient to deal with hashes then using dir2sig or sig2dat or ksig.

for the index files: i have had kazaa running 24/7 for almost a year and not a single html file was ever uploaded from me, but they(files) can easily go somwhere else, i didn't plan to leave them there, this is a beta ok ?

i apreciate the comments, will work on it.

Sorry, I ment privacy not security...my fault
Also my post wasn't ment to be offensive, I hope it doesn't sound like that.

But what I was trying to say is that in times where organisations like RIAA are even suing little kids, people care a lot about privacy.

I'm sure more people will use your program if you take care of privacy.

A nice feature would be an optional password protection for the hash sites for example.

And yes...it would be a good idea if you move the index files from the shared folder. Although Kazaa filters html files by default, this filter can be removed.
Also Kazaa acts as a web server too. If you know the filename of the index file, the ip and kazaa port, then you can use any browser to view it. So even if you stop the service of the hashserver, the index files are still accessable.
