It's not much faster at all but the price is decent mate. If I was you, I'd check out ISP Review (http://www.ispreview.co.uk/). They let you know what the best offers are and any complaints from customers ;)

if you change to a b/band connection you also have to bare in mind that your download speed can only be as fast as the person you are downloading from. i have a 600k connection but my downloads are still 0.10kb/s somtimes. on other occasions it can be 35.00 kb/s, of course i never had that high download speed when i was on a 150k connection, but you will notice a SMALL difference with 150k.

Have a look on BT.com (http://www.bt.com/broadband/bb_info.jsp?targetSection=bring_to_your_area). If there is a high enough demand for broadband in your area they may enable your exchange.

Local campaigning really gets results.
Over 200 exchanges are now being enabled thanks to campaigns encouraging people to register their interest.

Assuming you live within 5.5km of your local telephone exchange that is.

What about cable companies such as NTL or Telewest? Their coverage is pretty extensive.

£15.99 for 150Kbps - that's daylight robbery!

I pay £18.95 (Inc. VAT) for 576/288Kbps! :P

NTL is 17.99 for the same speed. I think they throw in some offer like first month free or something. As for speeds you can get a net speed of about 18 KB/s (on K++ and downloading via browser). 600K is about £25 with NTL. Check here (http://sales.ntl.com/newdesign/newindex.jsp?new=Y&cust=ntlcom_btm) to see if NTL broadband is available in your area...

If NTL is not available in your area, try Telewest (Link is above). I'm using broadband and can't get Telewest in my area. They both have their own areas to cover. Check it out.

ntl is a bloody rip off, i pay £35pm for the 1mbit service and havent had that speed in the las t 4 months. rang ntl, the engineer did a speed test and it was well under, i rang ntl again, and they dont offer any compensation whatsoever even though its their ethernet-usb cable that creates the problem, then they cant be arsed to ring u when they say they will. and when they do eventually send a letter, it has all this bs about some times being heavier usage than others, which is fair enough......but like i said i aint had that speed in FOUR months....dissgruntled...YES
