Im Sorry For Another Shitty Gfx Thread

I just got some money and am wondering if i should get a radeon 7000(I dont have much money) is it better then my gforce 4 mx 440 integrated GPU. Or would i be wasting my money?

I'd just stick with the intergrated gpu, and save up a few months, and then go buy a better video card.
As long as you have enough ram, the gf4mx should play just about everything, maybe not at the highest resolution, but good enough. The 7000 is getting so old now, I wouldn't recommend buying it, just wait and save the money.

Thats what i was thinkin cuz Im gettin around 200-230 buck soon(CDN) and was gonna but more ram and a new video card. If i just buy more ram then save up a bit longer i gues i could get a better card.

i saw a Fx5600 256MB DDR on sale for 150&#036; at futureshop... ;)

dunt get the ATI 7000 it sux like shyt&#33;

and just look in flyers and stuff and ull probably find a good deal on memory as well u can get memory for like 70-100&#036; CDN 512 DDR

200-300&#036; is alot of money... ;)

u can get it for less than 100&#036; i wud still recommend the fx5600 and futureshop restocks pretty fast/soon ;)

Nah i think the 5200 will be good enough for me. plus i have to buy some ram and i still want some money left over to go towards a new dirtbike.

Really, but the memory is shared and i only have it set for 32 and the 5200 is directx 9 so wouldnt i see a boost in performance?

So your saying if i threw a 5200 in my pc i wouldnt notice a diffrence?even though i wouldnt be using shared memory and the 5200 is 128 meg, plus 8x agp

the radeon 7000 and gf4mx 440... they&#39;re on very similar levels. depending on which particular 7000 or 440 models you compare, the 7000 might be slightly better or slightly worse than the 440, but mostly it&#39;d just be a waste of your money.

at this point, you should aim for at least a radeon 9600 or geforce fx 5600, if you want your purchase to be a worthwhile upgrade.

and directx 9 is compatible with your current card. your card will simply not support the newer features that are specific to directx 9, but it will continue to work just fine like it did before. the 440 didn&#39;t support directx 8&#39;s new features either, but it wasn&#39;t incompatible.

Lennon is correct, from all the review and comparisons I’ve read about the 5200 it&#39;s not much better than the gf4mx440, even though it would be faster than what you have currently, and have more memory, still I don&#39;t really think you would notice too much of a difference.
I still stick with my first comment; just use the money to buy more memory. Then later on when you have more money buy a better graphics card.
If you buy enough memory now, you should be able to increase the graphics shared memory to 128mb, and still have a hell&#39;va lot left over, and that my friend is where you will see a big increase in everything you do on your system.

I would still go with a 5900 or 5900SE.... they are 200 us dollars or less and WAY better graphic cards.

Why buy HL2 when it&#39;s a COUPON? If I were to get a game like that, I would be sure the game would come in a CD, not something that would give me "permission" to download it.

I myself am not really clear on the voucher thing, Is it just a piece of paper that you can take to a retailer and get a copy of HL2, or is it a serial so you can play it? or what?

It&#39;s a paper that gives you the permission to download the game (probably via Steam) or get your CD via mail. Getting the CD via mail is something I don&#39;t know for sure. That&#39;s why I don&#39;t think that deal is good.

From my reasoning, it probably gives you a pass to their web server or something, one log in or dlownload or something through it too, to download the Bins or ISOS or whatever.

you can&#39;t judge a video card by looking at a picture of it. i mean, yes, if it looks like it&#39;s made out of tin cans and scotch tape, then maybe you should avoid it. but otherwise, a picture of the card doesn&#39;t really tell you much at all-- they all look basically the same, except some have cooling fans on &#39;em and some don&#39;t (depending on how warm the graphics chip runs).
