View Full Version : What Is The Quality Of A Basic Kvcd File?

I usually burn my movies onto svcd or vcd but since i heard of KvCd i am wondering what the quality is ?

If it is better than vcd i can go for it !!

Svcd is the clearest for me now........

I think the quality is bad because ppl said that you can hold like 1-2 hours worth of movie on it? Does that mean the quality is shitty?

just need your help thank you

you have to download tmpgenc and acp
thats it, pretty much strait forward

Alright i have downloaded acp and i already had Tmpgenc so I am just wondering one more question...

I am planning to burn Iceage on KvCd so if i put in the whole file (683 mb) will it fit the whole thing onto 1 disc if i select 700mb?

like i need to know the settings because i was good with tmpgenc for encodig....

Cyril
01-13-2004, 10:14 PM
Yes it will fit, and when you convert you will see a size up to 800 Mb, but don't worry - it will burn. You should not need to change any of the settings. I started using this method a couple of weeks ago and for me it's the best thing to come out since p2p.

Um i am watching TMPGenc encoding the file and at the top where is shows all the frames it only says 6250 and it finishes encoding in like 4 minutes and after it is done TMPGEnc just restarts and does it all over again ??

is this normal or what ??

here is the damn log

The shit keeps on doing it the TMPGENC shit??

How did u encode it as Mpeg 1 or 2

muchspl2
01-15-2004, 06:44 AM
bad frames are the main cause of out-of-sync movies
try running your original avi movie through divx repair or video fixer,
http://www.tucows.com/preview/323038.html

if it finds bad frames just repair them, then back to acp one last time

kazaaman
01-15-2004, 08:20 PM
Um i encoded it to MPEG-1 and it works fine when i play it on the computer but when i play it in my dvd player its audio is like 1 second off........

I encoded 2 movies Ice age and Monsters inc and they were both off 1 second on the dvd player............ :(

What did u mux it with because it might need to be re-muxed (u did extract audio and mux back together didn't you)

the kvcd guide is as easy as possible, I left out the part of removing bad frames, most of the time you will be ok, but 1 or 2 bad frames can cause the whole movie to be out of sync
again try removing bad frames and try again http://www.tucows.com/preview/323038.html
I assume you got these movies off kazaa, it corrupts Unlike irc/bittorrent/emule

You dont care, since you have a dvd burner now, but just to say it.

In my experience what causes out of synch audio is not frames, it is the source audio (being vbr). If the audio matches up when it is avi, then it should when it is mpg. Never let tmpegenc touch audio. Extract the audio to uncompressed wav with vdub, then convert to mp2 with besweet. Then ofcourse multiplex it back in.

The problem is the stupid ways people encode audio tracks, like mp3 with vbr. When the audio is reencoded it will cause skew.

Ofcourse ac3 is a diffrent bag, but it rarley gives problems.

I am no pro like these other two guys (much and Gre) however I have spent days fighting with frames since I thought that was the problem, I have never have any problems now.
