View Full Version : Again, Somebody With A Bug Up Their.....

I am proud to say that I live in America. In a country where you can speak freely. A place where there are laws that allow you to say what you want to say. It is freedom of speech my brothers! OOPS, I forgot the FCC. You are allowed to say anything and everything except this, that, those, them and thses, etc....... (http://fly.hiwaay.net/~jmcmulle/400indecency.htm). (and there are som hefty fines too).

This is so ridiculous. Just because of a sound. A sound that is formed by your mouth becomes a criminal act. Another law to get you to pay money out of you pocket, because somebody else has a bug up their ass. The same "somebody" who probably convinced law makers to create the law against some words.

May I add that America is a continent, not a country.

No!

May I add, why do you ask a question, without the "Question (?) mark"?

;) Well if I had kids I would not want them watching some TV show(which my kid would never be alowed to do anyways...no TV!) and some guy starts cussing for no reason at all.

My kids might be listening to the Radio and I do not want them to hear this garbage. These Laws are made for a reason.

But I am just an old fudy dudy.

By the way, I'm not african american, but that is not even the issue here.

And yes, being from a country in America you are from America, but in your first post you implied that America is country, whereas it may be perceived that way, it is not.

Good enough then. America is 2 continents then, North America and South America. I stand corrected in my errors.

African American? There is no such thing. You are what you are. I guess nobody gets it.

Anyhow

@Funky - I agree with you. I have little kids too. But some of the extremes of the FCC are not cause for fining somebody tons of money. You are into the MUSICWORLD stuff, and the FCC has found their way into screwing up music on the radio (and TV) in the past.

according to your logic then there's no such thing as a macintosh apple or green apple, or big delicious etc.

I grew up on an apple orchard and I've yet to come across an apple named "green apple" or "big delicious." ;) There's Golden Delicious and Red Delicious. And there are quite a few apples that are green (like the Granny Smith).

But I'm just a tired ex-farmer.

Have an apple.

Yea....ME!

BY THE WAY - America is made up of 4 (thats FOUR) "continents". North, South, Central, and Caribbean.

I hate it when USA (citizens?) think America is USA. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. :frusty:

Nimdock
01-13-2004, 02:34 PM
Actually I think of America as just one big continent, not separate ones, maybe because that's what I was taught as a kid in geography class, a big continent with some divisions.

Yea that IS the way it should be thought of. However, there's nothing we can do about gringo's saying America referring to USA. It's kinda depressing. :frusty:

I guess I should correct myself. I am a "Untied States of America Citizen".

But the Mexicans sure find every effort to make themselves comfy in the USA. Bush is even allowing illegal Mexican immigrants to work in the USA for the next few years. A lot of products made for the USA come from Mexico. They sure like that USA money. A lot of USA tourists visit Mexico too. The average Mexican is alright, it is the "other Mexicans" that abuse the USA.

Canada is cool! They compliment the USA. I can't say anything, but good about that country. I love the casinos in Niagra.

-------

I am not disrespecting black people. I am just saying that when the black people must refer to themselves as "African Americans", I get the impression they are saying, "Look, I am not just an American. I am African American, and I am more special than you." As though I can't see that your skin is a different color than mine. It is like they have to make a point of it. That's fine (to be proud) but in my view, if you are born in America, and especially if your parents are born in America, then that makes you AMERICAN! How many black people know for sure that their forefathers are actually from Africa. There are other parts of the world that have dark skinned people too. Sure, the majority of the slaves came from Africa (200 years ago), but who's to say that a small number of them were not from Africa. I know that my great grandfather was a Chak-taw Indian on my mother's side. And on my fathers side, my great grandfather was a Cherokee Indian. Can I say I am American Indian? That makes me 1/16th American Indian. When it comes down to it, I am just American. So when I asked the question, "Are you African American?", I was being sarcastic. You are either American or you are not, where your descendants came from is is more information than I need.

Okay, I know my posts today seem a bit rough. They are just "topic starters". My apologies for offending anyone. It is the coffee that is making me run in circles today

Sorry but I AM american, but I wasnt born or have (or possibly want) to do anything with the US. I am american because i was born in a continent called America, due to Américo Vespucio.
