Before anyone says search the board I did that already.

Is it possible to log onto a PC that has been locked because it wasn't activated within 30 days?

I tried using the blue list XP keygen but I tried the keys that it generated and they didn't work. I think it's because my mate has XP home in French.
Don't say use corporate 'cause I have this and it works with no problem but he doesn't want this in English and I'm not downloading another version of XP.
 :frusty:

Also I tried the "Win XP Activator" and even though it said it worked obviously it hasn't or I wouldn't be asking you guys for advice.

Any advice or links or PM's ;) would be greatly appreciated.

ive never had this prob myself, but id guess you're screwed with regards getting back into your xp home; i would imagine the only way would (unfortunately) be to upgrade to corp pro...maybe somone has any better ideas, but i wouldnt get your hopes up. M$ seem pretty intent on keeping you away from your files :(

But there must be a way. What if someone really forgot to activate their version.

You wou have to be a bit stupid I guess but what happens if somebody didn't turn on their PC for a month?

I really don't want to have to re-install this again for my friend.

Well is someone did not turn on there PC for a month and had the program legally all they would do is call M$ and they would help them unlock it and activate it I am sure. In the mean time can you boot to safe mode. If you can let me know there may be some tricks we could try.

He's bringing the PC to me on Saturday. If you're around then I'll try that and let you know.
Cheers.

Did you generate keys for the right version, and enough of them?

some of the keys it generates won't work, so you need to generate at least 2 to 3 and try them out.

If its an OEM version that came with the PC then you won't be able to generate the correct keys with blue list. Your friend should call microsoft to activate it.

If its a downloaded version and won't accept the blue list keys, then the best option is to download another one that will or install the corp version, because otherwise whichever crack you use you will have probs with installing service packs from microsoft in the future, as they become aware of them.

Yes I generated 10 keys and none worked. I know it was for the right version but does it work with XP home in French? In the end I used the original key.

I think that it's an OEM version that came with my first PC 2 years ago, but after I downloaded XPCorp in English I had no need for this and installed it for a mate!

Since it has been installed he has updated everything from M$ update with no problems.

In theory this is not illegal as it is only installed on one PC with the original product key.

I told him to call M$ a month ago and he did but they refused to activate it that is why I tried to crack the activation. I know that if I called and explained the situation they might sort it out BUT it is a major hassle as anyone who lives in Switzerland will know that the people here are a$$holes and it would take me ages to get it sorted or I would just get pissed off with these fools and hang up.

I asked this question as I thought that someone might have used another activation crack and knew what to do.

If no-one has any more suggestions I will try in safe mode as Firefox said.

Cheers guys.

call (you or your friend) micro$oft, give them the installation numbers and tell them you upgraded some parts on your pc. Each time you upgrade the id strings change so they won't know the difference.

You can log in using Safe Mode. Some things are disabled, but this happened to me once so I booted up into Safe Mode and backed up all of my files then re-installed with Corporate.
