Which is the best FTP program for converting my PC into a server for hosting files so others can download directly from? Thanks.

Serv-U (http://www.serv-u.com/) is nice.

i prefer bullet proof ftp, cause of some features <_<

official website is here (http://www.bpftp.com)

but you can also do a search e.g. at fasttrack or emule :D

I have never used a ftp before, and don't know what i am doing. Which is the easiest to use but most versatile.

i think, you just use bullet proof ... but think about:

if you want to be reachable for your friends, you need a static ip_adress, or you look on for some dyn.dns feature ;) that makes you available to connect to your server !!!

take a google B)

cu ....... you are welcome

Serv-U is easier to use than Bulletproof ftp. Registration key can be inserted in "Licence," under Local Server. Enjoy.

bulletproof works and has fairly good security..

you will need a static ip or you will have to "bounce" through some other dns server..

like anything comp.related its not as easy as the media would have you believe..

good luck

I have cable modem, and I don't even have a statice IP, unless I manually set one up. I sure don't want to be bounced around, so I just may set one up. Thanks.
