How Many Films Can U Fit On A Dvd?

witha VCD, and a normal 70mins CD, u can only fit 70mins of video on 1 disc, as with a standard VCD 10mins = 100mb? hows does it work with dvd's, ive read that ppl have been puttin 3 films on 1 dvd, and i was just wonderin how i wud go about this. i have been using dvd2vcd to convert my avi's and put them onto dvd's. Im very happy wiv the results. Does any1 know of a guide or can can tell me how to put more than 1 film on a dvd by usin dvd2vcd?

Its all according to the quality you like mate.Really one,but you can use a lower bitrate or kvcd but you lose alot of quality & the motions messed up

Imo mate If you want more that one movie use vcd or svcd format with the right amount of bitrate with highest quality settings.You'll fit around 3 movies to a dvd,no jerkiness or bitty picture because of the lack of bitrate. :)

You can fit at least 3 hours of movies without losing noticable quality. Always use VBR so it takes less space on the disk and keeps more quality.

VBR = Variable bit rate. The bit rate determines the quality of the movie and therefore the size. The higher the bitrate the larger the size.

VBR can keep the quality of the movie constant at a lower bitrate than CBR (constant bit rate) because it increases the bitrate where its needed, i.e. fast moving action sequences, and reduces it where there is a lot of close up sequences.

By using VBR you can save a lot space on the disk because much of the movie is encoded at lower bitrates.

Very cool, I've taken a look at the progs I hve and couldnt find anything like that inbedded in them, is there a special prog that you need to use or is it it something thats Icould find in Nero or Sonic burning?

Its an option available on movie encoding software like tmpgenc.

But you can't make VCD's with VBR, it only accepts CBR. But you can use VBR for SVCD, DVD, KDVD, KVCD (its VCD with VBR) etc.

Yep, the number of movies has nothing to do with it. Its how long it or they are. The average movie is about an hour and a half long.

Not all dvd players are compatible with dvd-rw. Look here for your dvd player to see if its compatible http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers
