Hey, My work units keep restarting and it says it could be due to overclocking or something...I have my 2500XP at 3200 Speeds, and it runs full load at 45C which is not bad at all. I have also run a ton of burn in test and other stuff and it stays perfectly stable. But my Work units keep restarting. I have tried to reinstall, but that didnt seem to work. Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

When you ran the Burnin test how long did it run?
Have you tried going back to stock speed and seeing if that works?

wat hsf r u using? 45 at full load is pretty impressive for something that heavily oced

45c full load aint really impressive, ive seen 37-38 on just air cooling for that (small) overclock. right now mine os overclocked the same amount (athlonx xp2500+ at 3200+) using a volcanoe 11+ heatsink, and 3200rpm fan.

u prob have a better hsf than dawg. dawg, do u have stock hsf or some other one?

I got the stock HSF and 45 isnt bad...for that (small) overclock??...its not really small..its 400Mhz. I ran the burnin test for a day.

Thats really low for a Volcano 11+...... Just look at my temps.

Also Dawg, what are your clock settings?

Clock settings? Running at 200Mhz FSB and 2200Mhz...is that what you want?...My system is totally stable sept its fucked up when it folds...wierddd

Up your Vcore a bit, to perhaps 1.75V, and try upping your VDimm to around 2.79 or so, 2.66 is the Default usually.

The Extra juice usually does the trick.

whats the vdimm? And alright...ill try that..thanks!!

VDimm is the Voltage that goes to The Dimm Banks.

small as in i can push my setup way farther and it still be stable, but i perfer my memory running at 1:1 ratio with my processor bus. at one point i was testing it at a (im pretty sure a 3:2 divider) and had it around 2.5/2.6ghz stablely. (3dmark loop 6 hours). so that why i said small.

hey maybe u guyz can help me with my question too...(lennon :P ) i have a p4 1.9Ghz WILLY :( i oced it to like a 2.2ghz it was stable...but wenever i played games i used to giv me BUMPS in the middle of the game....more annyoying then lagging! and sumtimes the bump use to FREEZE the whole computer...it was not overheating! the temps were from 32-50C....cud it possibly be the vdimm or sumthin to do with voltage? and it is stable at those speeds....

it may have just not come to your attention, bigdawg, that overclocking is 'causing errors to some of your data until now because Folding@Home is the first program you've used which absolutely requires strict mathematical precision. a lot of other programs can keep going just fine, ignoring an OC-related error here & there... but a scientific program will just not be forgiving of CPU errors at all.

stability issues don't just boil down to "OC too much and it crashes," even though that's part of it. the other part is "OC too much and your programs don't all work correctly, even though some of 'em (or even most of 'em) seem okay."

i'm with clocker on this one. if you really want to participate in Folding@Home and you also want to OC, drop back down to default and run the Folding program again while increasing the clock little-by-little until you find out what your system's limit is for 100% accurate CPU operation.

cud it be the same problem with mine..but i did a small overclock....not a big one like big dawgz....

maybe its not the overclock i know the stock drivers on my cable modem make my comp restart unless i update them, do you get that option to send an error report on xp, that usually works if you get it

its overclocking.

Try lowering the Multi to 10.5, and the FSB to 197 if you are still having problems Bigdawgg.

Cant change multi :( oh well....

Max Payne 2 used to always crash after like 3 mins of gameplay...thought it was a bad file i had downloaded...since giving it extra juice it works great :) so im thinking that might have been the problem. Thanks lennon

On the VDIMM I can only go like 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, 2.9. Should I put it on 2.7 or 2.8? 2.7 seems to be pretty good for now...

Oh, and like on my video card...should I remove the white sticker with the barcode on it? or does it matter?

Set it to 2.8, if you have heat spreaders on it.

Also, I wouldnt remove the barcode, incase you have to send it back in someday.

Btw, which setting do you think worked with the Uped Voltage, the Vcore or VDimm? I have been having similar problems with failing the WU's.

I uped the VDimm to 2.7 and the VCore to 1.75, and the WUs arent failing now :D

Yeah I have heatspreaders, Mushkin or course I got heat spreaders :) . Does it make them alot hotter to up the voltage or something? Is it bad for it?

Well, upping the voltage to anything creates more heat. Same for your processor, you might notice the temps raise, but only a hair or two, seeing as how you only raised the Vcore .1 Volts.

The heatspreads will just help spread out heat a bit more, though I dont usually worry about the heat problem too much.

HAHA this is so tight. I figured out how to get around the security on the school computers...they put something on there to make it to where I couldnt install ANYTHING to C: drive, but I FINALLY found a way to get around there...I have F@H on 8 computers total now!

folding at home...you like fold proteins to find cures and stuff...pretty cool...clocker has a post on here somewhere about it...search for clocker and folding

Wow, nice. How fast are they?

I might have to do that.
