i have zonealarm with all the ips imported, and a ihave a us robotics router with the bt and klite and shareaza ports opened. do u think i should keep my firewall running? cuz i've noticed since install, i've only had bout 900 blocks (with router installed). b4 my router was installed, it had over 20000 blocks in the same amount of time. so my router isn't doing as much as b4. should i still keep it running? i'm thinking since it's got ips imported, it'll target those shitheads, while the router doesn't block those ips specifically. any suggestions?

of course it's gonna go faster

everytime u reqest a connection ur firewall checks it against the blocklist

my suggestion to u: get rid of the blocklist and keep the firewall on

if they r gonna catch u they dont need to be on the blocklist to do it

Keep it on...
I have zone alarm too (PRO is better)
More configurations for it not to slow down...

I have a router + Firewall...
(NO BIG DEAL, NO SLOW DOWNS)

I am having the same loss of speed from using my router as Abu is having.... what programs do you suggest I use to help get back my lost bandwith??

I am using KaNat with Kazaalite which has helped me get more sources but that program doesn't increase the speed...... any help would be greatly appreciated!

PS- I too have thought of abandoning my router and sticking only with my copy of Zone Alarm Pro, but I know that is a mistake.... ;)

Otherwise, using KaNAT alone won't help.

If Kazaa/KL++ doesn't have unfettered access through BOTH your router and firewall, you are "firewalled" on Kazaa/KL++ and can ONLY download from non-firewalled users.

Your speed varies based on a lot of things, it could jsut e a slower server.

Well I say keep them all. As for slowdown on router I know my wireless is affected by inches from one place to another, it can get so crappy that I can barely surf the web if in the wrong spot...

I already had made sure to use port forwarding for my port from the router.....however I didn't open the ports udp and tcp through zone alarm pro.... thanks for the help from everyone, and ur advice Switeck. so my connection should be 100% now????????? do I need to run any other programs?

i get the same speed in bandwidth tests on a lot of sites. pcpitstop and bandwidth place both say i have 1.5megabits, when i had 2.6 megabits before my router was installed. how do i fix this?

You also need KaNAT running constantly -- and you may even need it in ASM mode or it'll latch back into "firewalled" mode in the middle of searches. <_<
