Okay, I just installed a few recommended updates from microsofts site. Before i did this my comp loaded right up to my account, as it is the only account on there. Now after the updates, it loads up to a log-on screen so i have to choose the account, and there is still only 1, so this step is absolutely pointless. Any settings i can change to make my comp load up directly to my account (the admin account) without going back and uninstalling the updates?
I looked around but nothin is jumpin out at me
Thanks
Kai

oh and if this is not supposed to be in softwareworld, mods please move it
wasn't sure if it was or not.

Thanks peatmoss!
I read through it and did what it said, and was under the impression that it had worked, untill it fully logged on to my account, yet all my progs were uninstalled, and everything was gone, ie favorites, temp files, progs, etc, which wasn't relaly what i was looking for
not sure if this was supposed to happen or not, but it did
however i reversed it and all my stuff came back :)
Thanks though, it's appreciated

Kai

asp.net (http://asp.net/Default.aspx?tabindex=0&tabid=1)
no idea lol
also, it has not always been there as i recall
i know for a fact that i did not create it, thats for sure, and also i am the only one who uses this PC

I am connected from a router from another comp, but have my own printer (not shared) and am not sharing and docs either

the asp.net account is created when you install the .net framework. since that account is now on your machine, it automatically forces you to the welcome screen at startup. it didnt do this before because you only had one account on the machine. if you do not plan to log onto your machine remotley, you can safely delete the asp.net account and everything should return to normal.

yes just delete that asp account and everything should be ok, you don't need a password

I had one turn up once when I did a windows update

nope, but i just installed my OS on my new comp, so i had to go and get some updates for it, so i got all the critical and a few of the recommended as well
as for autoupdate yeah i have that on. i didn't on my last comp, just to save as many resources as i could, but i figure i've got plenty to spare with this one ;)

Not a good idea. Sounds like you want the click the pick auto login thingie.

Thats a security risk. Its not wise to do that, hell with windows its not wise to even display what users have accounts on the sytem period. Whether it be through a one click user posted image on the welcome screen, or a displaying last user logon when the welcome screen is disabled.

Just get tweakui or do it in the group policy settings. Disable the welcome screen and use the regular logon where you have to enter a "username" and "password" everytime you log on to the to the box.

Youll get to see plenty of your user account picture when you click your start menu and your logged on safely.http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/0/acme.gif

Btw, you need a asp.net account on your machine if you ever want be able to run ms asp.net web content on IIS with that machine. If your strickly a php kinda guy then you go boy!!!http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/w/super.gif

Never got any critical updates, service packs, or whatever, and I don't use any firewall (expect winxp's one). Bottom line: it doesn't matter how much critical updates you install. What really matters is HO[B]W you actually use your computer.

Take me for example, never had any trouble since I know what to do and what to not do :01:

The ASP.net account was created after you had installed the Microsoft .NET Framework. Happened to me as well and had to delete the ASP.net account from the User Accounts. Damn! Microsoft should tell us about this beforehand!
