more than five million aerial photographs of World War II are to be made publicly available on the internet.
The pictures will go online on Monday. Taken by the RAF, they were used by Allied commanders to help devise their strategy during the six-year conflict.
The pictures cover events such as D-Day, the Holocaust, and the sinking of the German battleship Bismarck.

the bbc website also has 6 samples pictures at the momment.

the photos will be avialable from monday from www.evidenceincamera.co.uk (http://www.evidenceincamera.co.uk)

saw some of the pics on the telly yesterday and some of them are pretty cool, theres pictures of dresden before and after, and theres a couple of pictures of entire sections of a city (maybe dresden again) where every single building visible (hundreds if not thousands) has lost its roof (walls still standing in most cases), its pretty amazing to see.

Been waiting for this since I first heard.

Maybe it will regenerate some interest in a historical event that has been of late overlooked, relative to it's significance, and it's ability to inform the events of today's world.

WWII was a re-genesis of world-order.
