I have owned an acoustic guitar for years now, and never been able to play it.
Can anyone tell me if there is a "teach yourself guitar online" site?
Any help appreciated. ;)

Yes, it is possible. ;)
I have the Webcam working. Want to hook up? send me a PM.
I give Guitar-Lessons in this town allready, 150 nok per hour
but we could have a couple lessons for free, or even more.
If i was you, i would skip the next few beers in the pub and buy me
The Guitar-Handbook (http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0679742751/ref=sib_dp_pt/103-6455097-5823053), it is the best book
for beginners and pros that i've seen out there and i've seen a few of these...
Of course, i dont quite match the value of "private sessions"...
Im planning to do a sort of " My tips for beginners" video
with me WebCam, just a few points what new players seems to ignore and are
important to notice early on. ;) plus, some comical addons about
most common n00b mistakes.
If i get some vids done, i'll be sharing it on SoulSeek, infact, some files
are available allready (SoulSeek Blues.avi)
:cool2:

learn how to read TAB and then just find a song you know at a site (such as guitartabs.cc) and just strum along whilst listening to the song (Pick an easy one of course  )
If you need any help with TAB, PM me n I'll help you.
Now must get back to lessons, I'm at college right now and I can finally get on here since the adress changed :D

Good for you lilmiss, one of the best things you can do for yourself is to learn to play the guitar. But, how progressive do you want to be and what kind of music do you wish to play (I see you have an Acoustic so how about this suggestion)?
As a young man I yearned to play and I tried personal lessons but was turned off by the tedious instructions of learning how to read music, I was too impatient....I wanted to "play" not practice a few notes each week. Years passed...I would pick up my guitar and could only wish. Then I did something I never regretted. I signed up for group Folk Guitar lessons at my local Adult Night School. I was playing the first night. It was fun, it was rewarding and the instructor knew how to teach chords, simple at first then advancing. For the first time in my life I felt the joy of "making" music not just listening.
I realize you stipulate "on-line" but this is just an alternative to what you are looking for. I see you are in the UK so I'm not sure what you have there, but here's something to consider anyway.
But, whatever you decide to do...just "do it!" It will enhance the rest of your life, giving you many hours of joy and self-satisfaction. If you have a decent singing voice...so much the better.
Good Luck!

Here's an example (in the U.S. anyway)....
