I would go with 7.0 for now.

I still use that :)

For plugins, just google it - I don't use PS a lot so I wouldn't know about much plugins, but we can trust google, can we? :D

Yeah, stick with 7 for now.
I've heard talk that the current versions of the most popular plugins aren't compatible with CS.
I don't know whether thats true or not, so just play it safe.

If you want plugins that rock, Google Flaming Pear.
Sadly, you'll need to find the crack for them.
PM me if you have trouble. Depending on the version of the plugins you get, I may be able to help you out with that.

Oh yeah...and also check FOSI for Xenofex and Eyecandy 4000. You'll be glad you did. ;)

If you want to do cool effects without plugins, check out Phong's Tutorials (http://www.phong.com/tutorials/).
He totally rocks and some of his techniques make using plugins redundant.

Happy Photoshopping.

Yeah.. it blew my mind when I first found it.

And you know what?
He refuses to use anything newer than Photoshop 5. He hates all the bloat features (his words, not mine) that Adobe put in version 6 and later.

Another thing that blew me away is the guy learned everything he knows just by sitting down and working through the tutorials that came with Photoshop, and reading all the help files. Now people pay him big bucks to make graphix for them, and he gets to travel all over the world doing it.

So while I was wasting my time gaming, Phong was getting rich drawing pretty pictures. :frusty:

So take heed, n00b Photoshoppers. Follow the tutorials that come with the program. It could change your life. B)

It might be 5.5... it's been a while since I read his bio so the details are a little foggy.

Maybe he just uses loads of layers. It's really not too hard to get by without the history function, once you get used to it.... ctrl+z is all a pro should need.

Word - Photoshop 5.5 was l33t because it wasn't clogged with unnecessary stuff for a person like me - I don't use Photoshop the way a designer does, so why install it?

Adobe should make at least 2 types of installer - NORMAL user and DESIGNER, and install features this way. Of course, there should be a Custom option :D

Edit - btw do those tutorials work for ps7?
