Movie Download Incomplete

hi, i have just downloaded a movie from BT, the download completed but the file has still remained as a dat file, (well i think its a dat file anyway, the icon looks like a dat file icon). how can i fix this. i can play it in videolan, but it is very sticky and thats annoying, DIVX and bs player wont plat it. please help. (the movie is the italian job)

You can just rename it with the correct file extension (avi). If it's sticky then that it not because it's still a dat, it may just be poor quality copy.

Bt dont use dat files mate.It just downloads the file then fill in the data as it goes along. :)

ok, what amendments can i make to videolan to make the movie play more smootly, i mean i dont know much about this streaming and stuff

Whats the extension of the file mate?

If you go to tools at the top of a window ,folder optons ,view ,then remove the tick from "hide know file extensions".

the file may also have bad frames too.You could try an avi fixer or virtual dub.
