drm is the main problem, all of us should be worried about it not just nerds
well all that have bootleg movies/software/music sooner or later this will be our greatest problem as it will be Incorporated in hardware.

Aight...I downloaded Winamp 5..I like it..very nice. Much better then the older versions I used to use lol. Alright...I can go to Local Media but it shows all my pix and videos and stuff....But when I go to audio it just shows the artist..and not the title...how can I make it show the artist and title of all audio tracks?

Tsk tsk - Even though I don't disagree with you, I think you should rephrase that statement. When it comes to servers, linux "pwns" windows. However, it's the same way with games and windows. And it's the same way with media editing and Mac's.

LSA

I think that windows best for games NOW but when developers make games for linux it will be linux imo

Linux is a good server os and a good desktop os, better than windows imo, you don't need to mess around with updates and virus updates and all that stuff :) It is also just fun messing around with it and learning something new and interesting

I was just joking with 0wn stuff...

Dont mean to be off topic but I have a problem with winamp. When I play a audio file as a single file the "repeat" works but when I play a whole directory I can never get any of the songs to repeat. Its been like that ever since Ive used winamp. I have version 5 but the other versions did the same thing.B)

And yes the reapeat option is checked in the menu options when itry to do it.

Btw

   Just thought I would throw that in. No but really, I would not give up my xp pro box for the world. I love it. To be honest I rely on both.

Windows for simplicity and Linux for stabilty and performance. An great combo.

i liek WMP 9 too. it keeps things organized, updates tags for you if you want it to. shows album picture. etc...
i have no reason to want to uninstall it.
and i don't undertsand this DRM thing. I don' think it has caused me any trouble.
and if it does cause trouble and not allow me to play music files anymore, i will not use WMP9.

I only have trouble with .wmv on bsplayer. They kinda temporarily freeze when I go forward or whatever. I just open them with WMP. The rest of videos I don't have any trouble with. :D

"The one thing other than this that bugs me about winamp - you can't repeat
one entry on a playlist. It only repeats the whole playlist, which of
course means whenever you want to loop one sound you have to empty your
playlist and put only that one title in there. Most other players have this
feature, including those produced by M$ and Creative."

WMP 9 sux. It works better than some old versions, but it's waaaay bloated, and not to mention it spies on you by default, and runs unneccesary crap while you use it. Media Player Classic is THE media player. Based on the only version of WMP that was any good and with a million tweaks, it's self-contained, light, and will play pretty much anything. This is for Windows, mind you.

Speaking of operating systems, Linux does kick ass, but it's still got a way to go before it can provide good competition to widows, at least for public use. :P

I had a dual boot system for a while and it was great.

but what exactly does that do?
why would anyone have drm on and why would microsoft even allow you to turn it off??

I've no idea why theres an option to turn it off.

It makes it so you can't play a WMA made on another PC, unless you get some crappy license.
