I have some friends coming for dinner and wish to try an rather unusual starter. Unfortunately one of the ingredients is pigeon's milk. Does anyone know where I can buy some.

Both male and female parent pigeons produce a special substance called "pigeon milk," which they feed to their hatchlings during their first week of life. Pigeon milk is made in a special part of the bird’s digestive system called the "crop." When hatchlings are about one week old, the parents start regurgitating seeds with crop milk; eventually seeds replace the pigeon milk.

Any steriotypes about Geordies and Pidgeons.... i'll really get annoyed.... :P

Don't you Northern chaps call it doo's milk.

Or is that only when you are wearing a flat cap and going down t'pub.

Milking a pigeon is just a name for the sport.

They do that here in The Netherlands.
All those grey Pigeon houses on the roofs.. (we call it Duiventil)

Can ask them to milk 1 if you like though? :P

Here's a pic:
