There Is A Lot Of Animosity

... plus not many peeps seem to be posting here lately.

Nearly every thread is either spammed, flamed or just abused because someone else dosn't happen to like it, or maybe because they didn't think of it first.

Someone comes in here and makes a simple thread about how they feel or what they have done and it gets abused by someone else, instead of trying to understand why that person made it in the first place. No wonder there are so many crap threads arising, because there is no respect from others.

Most people here have nothing else to do and maybe, just maybe this place is the only place they can let off steam, or meet others who are just as bored, but what happens... they get attacked for being spammers or creating worthless threads. No thread is worthless, in the eye of the poster it might the most important thing of the day... a place to be heard and listened to. Maybe they are extremely unhappy and mobbed in the real world and this place is where they come to say things without being jumped upon.

Time for reflection i think from all concerned.

Agreed, there are some real bad threads, but what does that matter in the long run? Give it a rest from all the abuse and sarcasm and lets get this place back to where it was a long time ago.

The starting post was a complaint about flaming and what happens straight of the bat? A slanging match&#33; It always used to be such a nice place to come here and lately its like its turning to shit.

I think that some of the posts here have kind of proved a point, but so far it hasn&#39;t been too bad. Just a few comments though:

Some of you seem to think its quite acceptable that the Lounge is "free for all" to comment on what they like - in one sense it&#39;s very true, it is free for anyone to make whatever comment they like, but do we have to accept the same people throwing dirt around, being cocky and nasty, spamming and flaming their "enemies" openly, attacking the same people over and over again??

I think not.

The regulars have gone... maybe never to come back - even that kind of remark gets "so what??" thrown back and "good ridance"... very sad indeed...

I think you got the point. It is really disturbing that people take topics over wth spam or flaming.

I will start a little discussion in our team chat and try to find a way to stop this because spamming, flaming and hijacking topics is not fair at all.

I am sorry to say that I saw this situation was going to arise a few months ago. If members are going to be allowed to include &#39; I hate Americans&#39; and &#39;I hate Australians&#39; in their posts without expecting a backlash, then I think that they are very, very naive. This is an international Forum and should be treated as such. Not some little parochial plaything for a few immature adolescent students to flame the interrnational community.

The Mods have lot to blame for this by not stepping in and preventing the publication of some of the above statements. Everyone is proud of their own country irrespective of the views of other nations.

Now all we can do is try and build up that international feeling in the Forum. Try and see where we went wrong and if possible, redress the issues involved.

I am not talking about &#39;free speech&#39; here. I am talking about provocation. If you step in and stop this, then I am sure you will have the backing of the board. Lets face it. There are people with whom you cant go along with and there are people with whom you can talk for hours. So why not avoid and ignore things that might provocate anyone and instead enjoy each other&#39;s company.

Alot of the flaming and the provocative posts..I hate (insert sport or persons country etc here) are jus meant to start flameewars and gives the poster a feeling of power and some of it comes from immaturity and boredom...


users should understand that this is their forum too..even the ones that flame and they should realize that flaming just hurts their own forum..If new members get on here and see alot of backbiting and sniping at one another and slamming and hateful speech then more then likly the new members are gone..and sooner or later the forum dies because the Regulars get fed up with it to..of course their are some out there that get a power rush by doing this...and look at it as a victory that they have driven people away....I dont think you have to get along with everyone but you can be civil in your disagreement and not make it personal or make attacks on ones nationality etc....

It&#39;s not that hard and its not alot to ask...

Let me be the first to say that

1. UKMan you have been one of the proficient at LOUD flaming; Even having a thread for it. Moving forward though, it&#39;s good to see that&#39;s changed. ;)

2. Flaming does have it&#39;s place. If there is member starting crap unprovoked, he/she deserves to get slammed for it (might I say I&#39;ll be first in line to do the slamming).
It&#39;s nice to have a good, clean, wholesome, enriching, enlightening, inspirational board..... :x but there should be a medium between that and a board with some fun and fire to it. A STFU if a member calls black people idiots is warranted sometimes.

3. There seems to be a buddy system on the board that I&#39;ve observed for awhile.
Also banned folks seem to be able to pop back up announcing themselves without a hitch from the mods. For instance:

I never had a problem with Billy Dean yet he was able to post under Turkeyboy with a flame thread while on moderation. While it was entertaining (I unlike alot don&#39;t take this stuff too seriously), it was allowed to happen. Hmmmmmmm.

Dreamweaver bka Killa Sin was allowed to post, I mean spam even after announcing who he was. Some believed we should cut him some slack yet......there he was spamming away like committing murder fresh out of jail. :lol: :lol:

UKMan (sorry man) himself had a whole flame thread, which I might add, was "overlooked" by his "friends" and mods. Hell I flamed him myself in that thread; a thread that should have been locked IMMEDIATELY by the mods.
(again, it was rather entertaining) edit: btw it is still "unlocked" :lol: :lol:

There are many more.

I am not attacking anyone here but .....

If it was not, it&#39;s still weird coming from you of all people. I haven&#39;t seen the animosity you describe here lately since that thread (and many Askjeevesbot spankings) :lol: :lol: .
