Those lyrics do appear in Sparkling Diamonds, which is really (like most of the songs in Moulin Rouge) a medley of others. ;) So technically he's right. Plus Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend's been recorded many times over.

Thats why I was confused, I Googled the lyrics to both songs. The results for the second song showed both Nicole Kidman - Sparkling Diamonds and Marilyn Monroe - Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend.
