Anyone have any good compressing programs that are ez to use? I dont want the stupid little winzip or winrar program. I want to be able to compress a 600 meg file to 200 or something...

You don't want WinZIP nor WinRAR... OK! :D
What about WinACE? :P
Another topic in the wrong room. This should be in the Softwareworld. <_<
:D If I were a Mod, I would be ruthless! :D

ZipCentral's free, but I don't know it's capabilities.

If you don't like WinRAR or WinZip, then WinACE is the only real alternative.
WinACE is slightly better at compressing files than WinRAR, but I think it's slower.
Personally, I think WinRAR kicks ass, been using it for ages and it's pretty powerful while very simple.
Make sure you get the full version though.
If you want good freeware, WinIMP is your best bet - look on my page (check my sig) for a link.

Not to be picky or anything, but can winzip/winrar/winace really compress a 600 meg file to 200 megs?

What r u talking about?
Winrar is the best
I compressed 728 MB file to 288 MB
All you do is put the setting to "best" when compressing.
Winrar is the best 4 me

some people like this better, and say its faster than winrar. I personally disagree.

It depends on what you're trying to compress.
A movie or audio file won't compress much since they're already compressed. Games and software often compress quite well because they contain a fair bit of <edit>uncompressed</edit> binary data.
Edit: removed slagging potential (see below) :P

Yeah..............If by a fair amount of binary data you mean all of it is binary data..................movies and songs too.............it's all 1's and 0's baby. ;)
