Whats the best way to format my HDD? To bring it back to "as new" so I can sell it.

I would personally use Partition Magic

If you are selling a HDD that you have already been using, then formatting isn't what you want to do.
You want to wipe it clean.

I like KillDisk.

Let the new owner format it to his/her liking.

what does killdisk do? does it like keep righting over the info you have on your disk over and over until it is unrecoverable?

that's the idea.

giving somebody your hard drive after a simple reformat would be like... giving away your diary, thinking that they won't be able to read it if you just use a pencil to draw a big X on every page.
