Avatar Problems

I cant get any pic for my avatar! :angry: :angry: :angry:
Its so annoying, I really want an eminem picture but none are jpegs. Why cant shtml or html extensions be used and why was the upload feature removed, that was so easy to use. Some one help out please, I hate my avatar, but dnt want none,

What extension were they? Uploading them uses the space here you know, so it had to be removed.

You need to find an image host and link it here. Example: Village Photos, Picstore.

shtml and html are not image types.
There is no such thing as an image having a .shtml or .html extension.
Just find out an image you like, save it to your computer, upload it to an image host and then link it here.
It's that simple.

tried that but the url nds in =14 which is not a valid extension.

Village Photos gives you a lot of URLs for each pic.
Just copy the URL that ends with the file extension (.gif, .jpg, etc.)

Check it again in your uploaded pics gallery.
I&#39;ve registered there and they don&#39;t just give you one URL for each pic.
They give you more than one URL and one of them ends with .gif or .jpg.
Use that one.

Nope, their both the same size.
Right-click on the avatars and choose &#39;Properties&#39;.
You&#39;ll see they&#39;re both 64 x 64.
It seems squashed because the real pic size is much bigger.
Since the maximum avatar size allowed is 64 x 64, every pic that goes beyond that, is automatically resized.
If you don&#39;t want to see it squashed, use a good graphics program (Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, etc.) and resize it yourself.

I see, thanks ill do just that. I thought getting a bigger file (in kb) would fix this but I want a smaller one dont I?

Bigger in kb of a picture usually means more colors and looks better or it&#39;s big.

I&#39;ve noticed that the pic&#39;s actual size is 800 x 800 so even if you resize it to 64 x 64 it will look the same since it is proportional.
Although if you do resize it, it will load faster, the filesize will be a lot smaller and the crappy bandwith limit from Village Photos won&#39;t end in 5 minutes.

OOOoooohh ... I&#39;m with you TR, I just couldnt "get it" no matter what I tried.. either the url&#39;s were too long..or the image formatting was wrong. I had just resigned myself to the fact that I would forever remain "avatarless"&#33; :angry: .. and then, I read your thread last night with all the very helpful information from DataMore and The Great Dude, and decided to give it "another go".. wallah &#33; :D B) I have to agree with you.. "It&#39;s simple.. IF you know exactly what you&#39;re doing" I should of just took Shinigami up on his offer to host my image.. way back when, and saved myself alot of grief, however,being a "newbie" at the time... Thanks go to all that made this avatar possible. BTW: nice avatar TR &#33; :D :D

I had more problems today when my avatar stopped working, checked my hosting site and I had used my daily bandwidth. I thought nooooo&#33;&#33;&#33;
But then realised thats coz my avatar woz 99kb, so using datamore&#39;s®
advice made my picture smaller to 1kb and no problems. Just dont view it to much.

Moral: make sure your avatar is small if your using a free hosting site like villagephotos.com

Yup.. I see what you&#39;re saying.. my avatar just stopped working also.. mine is also hosted by villagephotos.com I guess I&#39;ll just have to live with it.. for now.
