Has anyone played any of the following tycoon/sim games:
Can you tell me about the ones you played and how good they were?

School Tycoon
Buisiness Tycoon
Zoo Tycoon
Skatepark Tycoon 2004
Sim City 4
Theme Hospital
Airport Tycoon 3
Sim Theme Park
Space Colony
Restaurant Empire
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 + Addons
Casino Tycoon
Cruise Ship Tycoon
Deep Sea Tycoon
Dinopark Tycoon
Golf Resort Tycoon 2
Mall Tycoon 2
Lemonade Tycoon
Hotel Giant

For the rest of the list: http://www.gamershell.com/hellzone_Sim-Tycoon.shtml

Stuff I already played:

The Sims (all addons all the way to Houseparty): It was very addictive for awhile, untill i had to force myself to stop after 2-3 months. It's a game were it's hard to quit, but you can allways start right back up. : 10/10

Roller Coaster Tycoon: I spent a few months on this one. It has aged now though: 7/10

Creatures 3: My friend let me borrow this game. It's just like a biological sim, were you raise a creature in this strange environment. Pretty hard game, and i didnt seem to play it for more than two days: 4/10

Neighbors from hell: Hehe a funny sim where you set up cool traps to piss off your fatass neighbor. I like a little comedy after awhile. The gameplay is awsome, but the game's reply value is short. You can beat it in allmost i'd say 13 hours or so. Have to wait till they release NFH 2 and hopefully made it alot longer. : 7/10

Sim Tower: One of the first sim games i played. It was back when win95 was out and this game was pretty darn fun too. It has aged quite alot, but still quite fun. 8/10

Sim isle: Uhg, I hated this game. I barely understood most of it and quit in less than a week. : 1/10

Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 is very good, much like the original - 8.5/10
Sim City 4, never played, but the screens look sweet.

How about Tropico? That's kind of like a "Dictator Tycoon". For some reason I really liked that game (the original, not the lousy sequel, Pirate's Cove ).

I think Gadget Tycoon looks pretty cool! I dont think it's out yet, but the screenshots are pretty sweet. The style reminds me of Neighbors from hell.

Anyone here any info on the full version coming out? I found some 60mb file of the game on suprnova.. obviously it's a leaked demo or it's fake.

Gadget Tycoon has been out for a couple of years. It was one of the first games I downloaded from Kazaa, but it was too confusing for me so I deleted it. Here's a review...

(NOTE: It says "soon to be released", but the article is from 2001)

Yep, this is what IGN said about it...

September 20, 2001 - SimsVille, best described as a cross between The Sims and Sim City, has met an untimely end as it wasn't meeting Maxis' standards. Strange, considering when last we saw the game, it was actually shaping up fairly well. As a Maxis employee told us today,

"We have very high standards for our games, and SimsVille was meeting it in some places, but not in others."

Don't fret, little pet; it's not all grey clouds. Even though the title, which would have given users an intimate look at their denizens a la The Sims and a level of control a la Sim City, is gone, the knowledge used to create it will live on. The same Maxis representative told us,

"We're hoping to take what we've learned in SimsVille and using it in future projects."

Man, Sim City 4 dont download off Suprnova.. both of the torrents have dead hosts.
I tried Torrent Hunter, but got the same thing unless I was downloading the macintosh version which showed some ".toast" CD Image Formats. Havin to get it off emule now.. It's already at 50mb of 600mb or so on each cd. heh, after 8 hours.

I've played a few tycoon and sim games, but one of the best for me that stands the test of time is Transport Tycoon.( (And the Deluxe variant)
It was one of the first games i ever played on a pc (around 1994-95) and one that i still play today. It's graphics look very outdated these days but its the gameplay that keeps you coming back for more.

I'd give it 8 out of 10, more if it wasnt so old

And a note to Chris Sawyer, make a sequal to it already instead of another roller coaster tycoon.

I never really played SimCity games before, so i was wondering what are the goals in the game? Do you go up levels like in Roller Coaster Tycoon? I didnt seem to find any Faqs/Guides on the game that explained how to beat each level, so i'm wondering.. can you even beat each level?

Well in all the SimCity games there isnt really any 'levels'.
I mean you can play scenarios in where you have a target or mission. But in the general default kind of play mode the game is very open ended, you just keep playing till you run out of room to build more, or get bored, or royally screw something up up kill a few thousand people basically.

Damn.. so there's nothing to really work for?
 i rather play games you can eventually beat.. or just gain extra stuff in.

Generally if you reach certain population sizes you gain access to bonus buildings, such as city hall's etc. Same applies for Sim City 4, certain tasks give you bonus structures, but there is not exactly and end to it. Some of the best games ever made are open ended, gran turismo and gta for example.

Wolfmight

hmm.. i agree with GTA3 and Vice.
Maybe I'll try it then.
Do you ever reach a state of having everything?

Ge4orceOne

Depends if you can fit everything in. My favourite SimCity game so far would have to be SimCity 3000 Unlimited. I find that with Sim City 4 to make a successful city you end up with ugly urban sprawl of the same city blocks all over the place. Just like real life really. :) in 3000 you can have a bit more freedom to plan. Thats what I feel anyway.

Even if you do get everything in the game, there is next to no way of having the perfect city, you may be able to rake in lots of money, but have high crime, or you may have a high unemployment rate or polution etc. Its the search for perfection that keeps you coming back to play again and try to make an even better city than last time.

hmm yea... The game is all about improvement.
There's never a perfect house because it could allways use a little of this.. and a little of that. Oh yea, your sim needs to learn stuff! and get a job so it can buy stuff! and maybe talk and marry another sim and stuff. heh, it gets old after awhile i guess. The game becomes very sinister and quiet.. you find yourself playing at 3 am watchin that sim live.. and live and live!! Now the sims 2?
that's just insaine............. :frusty: :frusty: :frusty:

The same thing happened when I played The Sims. At first I was obsessed with designing my house and making enough money to buy lots of nice toys, but then it got boring just watching my people live their lives. I think it would be more fun if you could actually use some of the stuff you buy. For example, when you buy a pool table or a pinball machine you should actually be able to play with them like a mini game.

The Sims Inc. Expansions - 9/10
SimCity 4 - 8/10
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 - 8/10
Theme Hospital - 5/10

But, one of my favourites of all time was Transport Tycoon Deluxe You can download the full game on thousands of websites and it's only 14MB  Unfortunatly, Chris Sawyer decided not to further the game by making a sequal and moved onto other noticable games. This is the one that started it all.

Microsoft Train Simulator: 1/10 No people, no disasters, no fun. (i had a friend copy it for me once, heh wat a waste of a blank cd)

Age of empires 1: 7/10 Great War sim. When i first played this awhile back, i thought it was one of the most revolutionary games out there like warcraft, but better graphics. Now it's showing it's age majorly, but still great gameplay.

Age of empires 2: 7.5/10 Even Greater war sim, but also somewhat showing it's age also. Nice improvements and alot more things to do.

Empire Earth: 2/10 Uhg! Horrible graphics, and very annoying gameplay! This game uses zoomed in game models for videos, but not like warcraft 3, the game looks extremely horrible zoomed in that close. It spans to the Nano age, but choppy details and skipping, so its silly how you can get from dark to nano in like allmost a year in game time. I dont know, but i just hated this game.

Rise of Nations: 8/10: Gets rid of alot of annoyances that were in other games, but somehow the gameplay is very stressfull and alot more challenging (good for some people, bad for others) than age of empires games. The game plays like a board game, where each battle is actually done with RTS gameplay. Pretty fun, but takes hours upon hours to beat some levels.

Warcraft 3: 9/10 Decent Graphics, fast pasted and relaxed gameplay, warriors than you must level and gather items with. The cinematics are breathtakeing. There is a story as well. The only part that keeps this game from getting and perfect 10/10 is the slightly goofy looking characters and such. I'm into very realistic proportions when it comes to games like these, but I would guess this game has a unique style to it's look.

recently downloaded and played Theme Hospital for the first time and for an old game, it's got some zing to it still. The types of conditions are pretty humerous, while the game feels alot like the sims.. as were you manage the hospital instead.
A remake of this game with more stuff and better graphics would probably be a pretty good thing to do.

trains and trucks tycoon is a good one too. its like a 3d railroad tycoon but with trucks too. its easier to get into but doesnt have the same lifespan

I wonder if there's a "Mafia Hideout" sim where ya build the mafia hideout building (from dump, to underground, to mansion) The Don is auto spawned in the beging of the game and maybe has upgradable stats. (or each level has different Don stats)
You hire thugs, bouncers, masterminds, etc for the biz. Your rooms include an office, some rentable rooms, collecting valt, bathrooms, kitchen/bar, and some kind of entertainment to keep the peepz happy.
It wouldnt be like GTA 3 Vice City, because your actually building a giant mod place instead.
I say this game idea sound very fun!! :D :D
