hello, my friend has This (http://www.viewsonic.com/products/lcd_vx800.htm) monitor, or one very like it. its only a few months old and when we turn it on you quick and very dimmly see the hp start up logo thing. then it goes completely black, we are pretty sure someone didn't set tint to 0. everything seems to be plugged in right and and the little green light shows it is getting power. if you know what is wrong or have anyideas please help.!!

Have you tried connecting it to another computer to see if it's a monitor problem or a computer problem?

Turn the plug switch on... Or

Clean your monitor with a clean duster ;)

Instead of testing by connecting another monitor to the PC try connecting the monitor to another PC. The refresh rate or resolution settings could be wrong for that monitor.

their should be a combination of buttons or a menu option to recall the settings back to factory default, try doing that and see if the brightness comes back.

Also, check the monitor cable to make sure their are no bent pins and that it isnt bent or anything like that.
