View Full Version : K++ Make My Pc Very Slow

I use K++ 2.4.3 on Win 98SE since a month. Last days, few minutes after I open K++, my mouse begins to move more and more slow, also using other programs. Often, I've to restart the PC to recover a correct behaviour, closing K++ and disconnecting is not enough.
Can somebody tell what's happening with my K++ and give me a solution?
Many thanks in advance.

How much RAM do You have?

Have you scanned for viruses and spyware?
Are you leaving Auto Search More running for more than a couple minutes at a time?
Do you have lots of downloads or are sharing lots of (or popular) files?
Are you behind a router or firewall?

ANY one of these can cause horrible slowdowns on a computer under worst-case scenarios.

I've 256Mb RAM, I scanned for Viruses and Spyware, and it's OK. I use the default option for Auto Search and I've currently about 10 downloads and 5 uploads at a time maximum. What can be wrong?
Thanks, bye...

Hi maramaeus,

If you are perhaps on dial-up then it could be a Bandwidth issue.

For example, I am on dial-up and my Bandwidth is around 50.600 Kpbs (5.6Kb)

I have Windows XP Home and I can check my "Connection Statistics" by double-clicking on the 2-Monitor Icon in the system tray (lower right, next to clock).

If that is the case you then have to monitor your download bandwidth (under "Speed" when in Traffic) to stay within your bounds and perhaps "pick and choose" and prioritize what to download.

mrlessk :)

How fast is your internet connection and what upload bandwidth limits are you using in KL++ to keep it from flooding your connection?

(The rest of your replies nearly eliminates my above questions as possible causes of your problems.)

Keep an eye on this thread
Here (http://filesharingtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=97730)
As I bet it's the same problem.
It seems quite common.

IMHO very similar symtoms.
Is it worth checking HDD activity in this case ?

no if you read my other post which was an answer to your problem i've already said that many different things could cause the same problem.

so don't go around assuming that since it looks like your problem, it is, and thus its common

just to inform you I solved the issue!!! This was done by removing all the .dat in my shared folder, so maybe some of these files were corrupted?
Many thanks for your co.-operation and suggestions in solving this!!
