Hello, i just finished downloading the 1.8gb Simpsons Hit and Run game for PC off IRC. Its a .tar file. Anywase when i extracted it with WINRAR, after everything was extracted I get an error that the archive is corrupt. Is there anything i can do about this because i really do not want to have to download it again and it took forever to download. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've had this problem almost every single time I've downloaded a .TAR file. I'd like to know if anyone had any success with Advanced TAR repair too. It doesn't seem like my files are missing they're just corrupted.

I have not had success with advanced tar repair. I find the same thing with TARS, they are always corrupt.

i have had some success with using tar98 to extract tars when winrar didn't work..I used tar98 to do the initial extract then switched to winrar to extract the bin cue from the rars... worth a look.....(it seems like advanced tar repair doesn,t quite live up to expectations hmmm)...

Here's a bizarre occurance. I unRARed a TAR file and got the BIN and CUE. My initial problem was that when I went to extract the BIN and CUE every single RAR file it was extracting said it "Invalid or corrupt authenticity information". So I just let it finish and got the BIN and CUE where I told it to extract to. I tried to open them to see if their was anything there (cuz they were the right size) and they would not open with ISO buster (said file was "either in an unknown format or damaged). So I thought "oh well I tried". Then just on a whim I tried to see what would happen if I mounted it with Daemon Tools and VOILA! It worked. I don't know why but it did. Program installed fine.
