For the general fan, what game do you think is the most entertaining?

Baseball All-Star: Pitching is too dominant.
Home run Derby- great event but not a game
Football All-Star- no one wants to get hurt- sucks
Hockey All-Star- ok

Add your favorite- any sport, any game.

I'm a little confused about a the different soccer/football leagues across the pond, do they have "All Star games"?

"All-Star" means the best players in a league, usually voted on by the fans.

Basketball All-Star game- Just watch those althetes go, defense be damned!

We dont do all star stuff in the UK.

Probly wouldnt take off, but it would be too difficult to work anyway.

People would want players playing for clubs in other countries (transfer market is quite europe wide) , then theres club, country commitments and the fact theyd want like £1 million each probably

Oh this is "almmmost" easy.

It's a toss up

The Superbowl
NBA Finals Game 7
NBA All-Star Game

The Superbowl is the most hyped
The NBA All-Star Game is sort of an exhibition game

but the NBA Finals, if it goes to a game 7, IS AMAZING.

Football is popular probably because there are less games played.
The NBA is a little less popular because you can missed 5 games and still have 75 more to watch (of just your team)!!! It is personable in that you can see everyone's face.
Hockey is not as popular because the average joe must find an ice rink to practice it. Not very easy to just pick up on.
NASCAR is bunch of cars going in a circle. Nuff said. I look for crashes and the last lap.

Ok "any car racing that goes in a circle or oval"

The problem with soccer in America is

1. No commercial breaks or much other breaks for that matter. Other countries like that, we don't. We need piss breaks and if we take one, we don't want to miss anything.

2. Low scoring games. We don't want to watch something that goes back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth and at the end of 15 minutes score 0 to 0. This is also what plagues hockey.
I went to a Washington Redskins Football game and they were playing the NY Giants. It went to overtime and then............THE GAME ENDED WITH THE SCORE 7 TO 7!!! A FUCKING TIE. One frigging touchdown apiece and I froze my ass off watching that game. What a piece of @#!%$^$ &$#$#@%

'typical' crowds in F1 are <100,000.
F1 is the ultimate Formula in terms of technology and speed, imo

NFL Football - Denver - K.C. Always a great rivalry, always a great game. Raiders and K.C. is usually a good one too.

NHL Hockey - Leafs and Habs... Always a pleasure, especially when the Leafs stomp them. Especially great to be at the Air Canada Centre when it happens. :D

Another NHL Hockey - Leafs and Flyers, Playoffs. Guaranteed fights, guaranteed hits, big time penalties, hard hitting hockey.

Hobbes-

Since nobody answered/understood your question, I'll try:

I'd have to give my nod to the NBA All-Star tilt, as it's probably the only time you'll see both teams go over 100 points all year, only because playing defense in a meaningless game can get you hurt.

The upshot is you get to see a little offense.

The other games all suck, with hockey sucking the least of the rest. ;)

It seemed Hobbes was looking for opinions as to the various "All-Star", showcase events.

EDIT: You are right-I am wrong; I missed his ending caveat!

No problem-I tend to be a stickler for accuracy, and often make a pain of myself in aid of it.

I've therefore done the board the favor of taking myself down a few pegs.

F1 is the "All-star" racing championship. Arguably the best (open wheel) drivers in the world.

I don't think there would be any real argument, except by stupid people.

You make a good point, 4th; if the best in the biz show up every race, it is indeed an All-Star event. ;)

With only 20 people per year the all star race would be rather small...

There is an "all-star" type event held annually called the "Race of Champions" where some of the best drivers from rallying, F1, superbikes etc come together to race in different types of vehicles. Things like rally cars, beach buggies...
