I don't know if anyone has heard of the Paul Harvey news show or not but they announced today that the Hubble Telescope found a planet 150 lightyears away that has oxygen and carbon. I don't think it was close enough to see if there was life or not.

(Don't be an ass and flame me for not getting the information completely correct down to the last syllable.)

...150 lightyears away....
That is impossible, because a few of the religious members calim that the entire universe is only 7,000 years old. Before that, God was the only "existance".

God started the light in advance, say my literal, bible loving, friends. Whatever it takes to maintain the illusion.

But to be fair, if it is 150 light years away, it has had plenty of time to reach Earth. Some Stars are thought to be 150 million light years away, that is another matter.

You are right. I read the question wrong. I was thinking "Carl Sagan" like. Billions of years.

And your Sig's shadow still has lit windows, in the shadow....

WTF does God have to do in this matter?

You're right. I wanted to tell you that the lightening was reflected off the windows, hence giving the illusion that rooms were lit, but if that were true, the house would not be cast in shadow. That would require the lightening to be behind the house.

In conclusion, artistic license, you barsteward

Not to flame, but "we" are not an ass.

We are asses. ;)

That, at least, should be correct, yes?

Wasn't this Planet X/Nibiru/Zetatalk that was supposed to pass close to the earth due to its long, elliptical orbit causing a "polar shift" resulting in the death of billions? Just because they talk about it on the Coast to Coast radio show doesn't mean it is real :-P

I agree kab, the Hubble telescope has taught us more scientifically than any other tool ever used. They were scheduled (after the shuttle explosion) to send a repair team to work on it in 2006, to repair things like the gyroscopes to point the darn thing (it reguires at leats 3 of the 6 to be operated, and 2 have already quite working). Unfortunatly with all the ferver goning on over Mars right now, the true work horses (the few items at NASA that actually work) get passed over.

other than that they need big drilling machines too. After all, we know there is oil down there somewhere

Edit: kab, can i borrow your sarcasm tags for a while?

Hehe, don't tell America you have oil, and don't let the UK fish in your waters, hehe.

Bonus points to the historian who knows what i am refering to about the UK.
