You were comparing 2 boards before. The Asus and the Gigabyte. Those 2 use the Nforce2 which imo is way better that the Via.

so am i going to regret getting this board.? i can get it for much cheaper than the a7n8x deluxe? man i hate decisions....

is it worth paying an extra NZ$100 for the nforce2 asus?

What about the Gigabyte? Wasn't that cheaper.

As I already told you. I have a Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro 2 board.

Did you find something wrong with that one?

the gigabyte was cheaper, but my mate sed something about IDE RAID or IDE SATA or sumthing like that.

something to do with one of those.

also i just found this on the soyo board:

Chipset Type
VIA KT400
Chipset Description
VIA KT400 / 8235 chipset
Supports 266/333 MHz FSB

is that bad for my specs below.

oh, is it good for gaming?

lol, id hate to say this to you but ppl over here rekon the gigabyte mobos are lemons. this guy specialises and sells mobos, g cards, and memory. and he rekons the gigabytes that we get shipped to NZ, from the big companies overseas are lemons.

here it is:

1) asus a7n8x deluxe $250-260
2) gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro 2 $140-190 i forgot now
3) soyo DRAGON $190

and why?

What was the problem with the IDE RAID or IDE SATA ?

I ask because that Gigabyte board can also be had without IDE RAID or IDE SATA for even less money.

This one: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/MotherBoard/Pro..._GA-7N400-L.htm (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/MotherBoard/Products/Products_GA-7N400-L.htm)

http://www.tape.ro/picprod/ga7n400l.jpg

Supports 400 MHz FSB.

Also your Soyo only has Optional Serial ATA / Embedded Hipoint IDE-RAID chip.

I think his opinion may be a bit biased.

I personally think that a salesman that is recommending a board with a Via chipset over one with an Nforce2 chipset shouldn't be trusted.

mannn, go with the gigabyte for sure.

it looks good, it is cheaper than the asus, same price as soyo but much better performer, and you can get the option or sata and raid if you want it for not to much more.

the gigabyte is definately the way to go.

Now that sounds a little biased, and I don't think YOU are one of those people.

I have a VIA chip and it hasn't give me problems at all for the time I've had it (one year now). And yes, it runs perfectly. So IMEO (In my EXPERIENCED opinion), there's nothing with the VIA :)

Spring, and BTX will be along around that time too, since PCI-E is in BTX motherboards.
