Question About The Edonkey 2000 Client And Overnet

I saw this and was wondering if the eDonkey client connects to overnet too. If so what is the point of the overnet client?

as far as v0.52 they both connect to overnet (you can't disconnect from overnet), and both connect to edonkey servers (you can disconnect from edonkey)
the only differnce is the GUI

Overnet was created by metamachine to overcome some problems with there edonkey client - protacols and the like , also overnet is decentralised just like kazaa and has no need for the edonkey servers. ;)
