View Full Version : The '80s...

It all started with those bright clothes, then came the fingerless gloves, then they were lace. Everyone is wearing trainers again and they have this scary band called 'The Darkness' and they're freakin' popular.

Those who don't want to through it again...I made an atom bomb shelter for things like these :fear: Can have 20 people in there. Don't worry, when the '80s drugs scene returns we'll come out and join in
But there is no freakin' way I'm going to wear my knickers over my pants!

At the risk of revealing my decrepitude, we are actually talking 70s here. 80s is Depeche Mode, and Adam Ant. The new romantic look.

Glam Rock had its hey day back in the early 70s. The Punk revolution of circa 76/77 was a reaction against the outrageous glitteryness of it all.

I think Darkness are supposed to be a spoof of Queen/Led Zepplin with a bit T Rex and Bon Jovi thrown in for good measure.

I sadly pre-date even this and was a Free, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull fan when Glam Rock started - although I continued to like Zepplin, even when they did go for the pomp rock thing in a big way.

It's hard to find pictures. Odd. And I'm glad there aren't any of me out there.

http://www.eightyeightynine.com/pics/hair12.jpg I'm really only talking about Mike Score...

That guy you posted does look more 70s. I would argue with Biggles...he's obviously not seen the hair bands. FC seems to know what I mean. ;)

You may be right. I have no idea what a hair band is.

Have I missed out? :(

Hey don't knock The Darkness OR the 80's , their the best musical thing to happen since 1989 :D

And they've been topping the charts for nearly a year, Where have you been??

Plus they write their own music, they play real instruments and they come from Lowerstoft :D 60 miles east of me :D

Great band, Great decade, bring back the 80's cos the 90's and now sucks :01:

:01: 80'S FOREVER!!!! :01:

That depends. I'd say you're probably a richer person for it. I personally alternated between having half my vision cut off and having a really big mohawk. And now I have a rather annoying habit of hiding behind my hair.

Here are some hair bands, for your viewing pleasure. ;)

Well, really, three is enough for anyone.

:ninja:

Edit: Of course, 80s makeup hasn't made a comeback, which really is a good thing. We only need one Boy George.

I'm scared :fear:

Sorry Jonno, I hardly ever watch tv and I only listen to Studio Brussels and they're a bit alternative/underground...

I heard that song, but I didn't find out who they were until I came to Sweden and watched some tv every now and then

Anyway...late '70s...early '80s....If they bring back Europe I'm in :D

*It's the final countdown teneneneeneuuuu tenenenenentueuuu*
