I agree, the whole thing is ridiculous.
But, there is another side.
A certain group wanted to air a "political commercial" opposing the debt created by the Bush administration, this was denied.
Why?
Well, the Superbowl is not just a game, and the game itself is almost irrelevant except to those cities represented.
The Superbowl is about a taking a timeout from the real world, a time to take the nonsence of football and make it King for a day.
It is about feeling good about family, the country and so on. Truly an event to allow a nation of 250 million to have a common thread of unity.
I think that those offended are silly, but I also appreciate that the Superbowl is primarily about happiness.
I would hope that all people could enjoy the game and the entertainment without worry that something might occur that would cause discomfort.
The Superbowl should be a day of dissociation from our routine concerns and allow the young and old to have fun together without fear of an occurance which might cause unnecessary distress.
