yes,
1. where are you
2. are you looking to build, or buy prebuilt?
3. if in america, try newegg (http://www.newegg.com), if in canada try greenlyph (http://www.greenlyph.com), if somewhere else, tell us where!

You dont need to be a guru mate ,they're quite simple to build.Theres a few guides pinned..It would probably help just to focus on setting up the bios instead.,then on the hardware just follow the manual, its only a few steps..It's a lot,lot cheaper and more choice on choosing the parts to suit you.once you have all the parts it'll only take an hr and your be laughin :)

Most of us here have bought the parts for our own computers and built them oursleves.

You can get a entire system minus the Monitor and OS, and keyboard/mouse for around 200. All directly from a nice place like Newegg.com love that site, alot of us here now swear by it.

Rather easy to build, and we would help you if you have any questions.

How much money do you want to spend?

johnboy27
02-10-2004, 12:08 AM
Yup,building it yourself is the only way to go.You will likely save yourself 200- 400 bucks.Or you could spend what you would have saved and get some even better parts.
If you can figure out how to use a screw driver and have enough sense to figure out how to put the thermal paste on a CPU then your laughing. You do not need to be a rocket scientist to figure out how to put it together.Start doing some reading for the next couple of days (there are a couple of good guides on the net) and then start ordering parts. When you get them if you have any questions, come back and post them here and somebody will help you out.

Yes, I read the first post.
Did you read the title?
The"best computer" for "the cheapest price" means building it yourself.

If you want a good computer at a reasonable price, checkConsumer Reports (http://www.mysimon.com/4002-5-5077278.html)

Advice: don't buy it now. Save the money in case your family needs it. Whenever your dad or/& mom become economically stable, maybe then spend it :)

umm i was wondering, why does everyone hate dell? I look around at school and they all say SCREW DELL? I say why? There cheap... and last i saw they made working comps....

dell has a reputation for being expensive and too businessy (formal). their prices are pretty high for a good system, compared to self built. i personally don't hate them. i just like self built better, just like almost everyone here

hey, i've been interested in building my own PC for a very long time and after reading all you're posts i feel i could do it :P . The thing is though, that I have a totally limited knowledge of the PC and its' components and i did read some guides on building PCs like the one from Toms hardware but its still rather vague. actually placing the components wouldn't be too dificilut as I could use crappy pc as an example, but then setting up the bios, knowing if i need to apply the gel thingy onto my processor :o, knowing if i need to add additional fans, pretty much i'm clueless, ( but not as clueless as my friends har har) If i did manage to buidl a PC it would be one mean gaming machine.

If i dont manage, i can always go with Dells' gaming pc.

Couple things,

1. Most of us had little knowledge when we built our First PC. I did, which is why it was celeronbased.

2. Once again, set up is pretty easy. Things like setting bios usually arnt needed as much anymore, they are usually already auto configed, or atleast have the option to load defaults and go from there.

Just read around and you will get alot of knowledge from here, err, depending on who's posts you read.

3. Dont buy dell's gaming PCs, all high end PCs are overpriced.

ALL OF THEM.
