im not sure where you cna buy something but i heard bad things about teh iPod, mostly about the battery in it. Once it has been charged enough times it starts to ware out and not work very well and you cannot replace it yourself beucase it isnt a standard sized battery and apple charges a lot of money for it.

they used to charge like 200 dollars for a new battery now they went down to 99 because of complaints. i think theres a place to buy the new batteries and put it in yourself but im not sure.

Ipods are for image geeks only with money to burn. If you want an MP3 player that actually sounds good and doesn't suffer from failing batteries get a creative ZEN or Jukebox 3. They have onboard soundcards like mini audigys. I know several people who took their ipods back and got similar creative models simply because the sound was very tinny. Up to you dude, but I can garantee you'll pay through the roof for a decent ipod too.

For removable media MiniDisc player aint half bad either and price wise don't come close to the tag on IPod's.
