Hey guys,
I am in dieing need of some help here. For the past year or so my Internet Explorer has been very stupid. SO MANY pictures come up as X's, and a lot of fonts don't display properly! I update my windows, I update my IE, I have no spyware or viruses, but my internet explorer just won't display things properly. Here is a screenshot of what comes up when I try to visit GameSpot.com (Popular Gaming Site). I tried calling Dell, My PC manufacturing company, but I always get some habeeb Jabar foreigners who are so stupid. I can't take this anymore! PLEASE someone help me!!

Does anyone know a good Image Uploader site that actually works?

Don't use IE. There are plenty of better alternatives, like Firefox, Mozilla, MyIE2, Netscape, Galeon, Opera, Konqueror, Nautilius, Epiphany, Links, Dillo, Encompass, Lynx, and yes, even Telnet. :D

All computer GEEKS PLEASE CLICK HERE!!!

Don't think you'll get much help with that... :ninja:

Use another browser.

Mozilla and Mozilla Fire Fox (http://www.mozilla.org/)
MyIE2 (http://www.myie2.com/) is my choice. It works on the IE core and supports like a million plug-ins.
MyIE2 Plug-ins (http://www.myie2.smsnet.pl/) is a good place to start with plug-ins.

I tried mozilla and it was no help. I was wondering if somehow my computer was blocking certain websites from displaying images? someone's gotta know what to do here...

Yeah, it could be the HOSTS file. Here are the locations:

Windows XP Home = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Windows 2K/XP Pro = C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC
Win 98\ME = C:\WINDOWS

Just open it with notepad and clear it except for "127.0.0.1 localhost"
This is really important.

If you have a 3rd part firewall like zonealram, sometimes they will block some images, if you have one try disabling it then see if the pictures come up then turn your firewall back on and youll know if its the problem.

i have had that problem on a few occasions and the easiest way to fix it is to do a clean install of windows. I called numeros tech support lines and tried vcarious fixes, but reinstalling windows clean was the only succseful one. Also i tried to do a install over and it did not work. the probelm is embeded in internet exploreer and since ie is a interagal part of windows the problem is related to windows. Also mozilla and alterantive browsers still use some code from Ie because it is a intergal part of windows and i don't think it would work otherwise. Also now that i have explained it more maybe someone eles can help.

I am in a rush out, but why didn't anyone suggest IE repair??
You can re-install IE, I believe M$ has a tool just for this !!

For XP HERE (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=318378)

just one example, search google "repair internet explorer" and you will find all the information you need.

Before the smart remarks about how IE suck and loop holes is another story.

My sig says it all.....Try them all...........

Later,
Steve

Did someone call me in here? :P
I have this problem many times. It is your settings that block these images. Try enabling the cookies in your browser (put it to the lowest) and see what happens. If you messed up the hosts file, you will get the same image blocking. For ex. if the hosts file has www.ads.google...... then google will get blocked sometimes, so make sure that the server where the images are is not blocked by the hosts. Firewall and other crap, such as corruption in your IE could do the same thing, so go to ad/remove and run a repair installation of IE if you have the latest version, if not, then get the latest version from the website (Internet Explorer's) and uninstall the ol' version. If all that did not work, then set all the settings in your IE to default, because you might have missed up the settings. Slow connection could be the problem also...
2B Continued by the rest of the g33ks around...

the problem is diffrent if you run xp, with xp you cant repair IE and fix the problem. trust me this problem is much more complicated then a few configurations.

Some people consider Mozilla as being bloated. Firefox (aka firebird) is considered to be more lightweight. There are also more extentions for firefox currently than there are for mozilla.

No configurations to change.
There are several ways as you can see in google and you can even use XP Lite to remove then re-install from the installation disk or download it from M$.
The system file checker method will not only repair IE but also other protected files that may have been changed or corrupted.

After all the changes have been made (back to original) you may have to re-apply any tweaks if you desire.

Just remember about "Tweaking", you can tweak your system to run on what they call the "bleading edge", but also be aware that "if you live by the sword you will also die by the sword" ...lol

Firefox is Firebird 0.8. It had to have its name changed for legal reasons. :)
