Is there any room above the optical drives?

Perhaps you could use drive rails:

Or move the optical drives up and put the harddrive where the CD drive is now (if the cable isn't long enough).

Make some sort of support bracket.

Just a bit of sheetmetal.

or build a new case and rebuild the inside layout :)

Have a good look underneath for holes that match up to the h/drive mine as them plus I also have a "slide" that goes under my Cd rom,and if all esle fails think of taking the floppy out (if you don't use it).

oh i c. so have you already solved the problem? are you going to put it into the floppy drive space or are you still thinking of something else? how big is the old drive? if its small you might benefit from taking it out all together and just using the new one as teh only drive, you will get better performance with that 8mb cache.

It would have been less confusing if you had posted all the pictures the same way round.

And judging from the mess of spaghetti in pictures 1 & 3 I think you need to do some serious reorganisation of your wiring. Get some cable ties, they only cost pennies.
