Some people dont relise how much they really download ever since they got broadband or 56k.

Hmm, lets put it in these terms:
choose one of the following:

1. Not much, i download mp3s mainly

2. Hmm average.. 5gb total..some movies

3. Ripper..I download atleast 1-3gb a month

4. Pretty Extreme..I download lots atleast 3-5gb a month

5. Major! Atleast 8-10gb a month

6. and...ahem.. The Supreme Being atleast 15+gb a month..all categorys

now what would you guess your total is as well if you like...

For me:

I'd give myself a : 3 I've probably downloaded hm... say over 16gb all together ever since I got broadband.

I use SBC, but they just joined yahoo so there's probably literally hundreds of people who download twice B) as much as me... I want to keep average now

btw I downloaded all 3 of 3 files for the LOTR Two Towers screener... hmm 2.1gb there. 700mbx3.. ;)

*ment 5 gb total, as in never downloaded over 5gb hehe

I just started in Feb and I have downloaded about 15 GB. Mostly music and some shows.

tilen76
03-05-2003, 02:34 PM
In aproximately three months since I got broadband, I would say around 150-200 GB, which would make 50-60 GB per month on average.

Damn, if I could use my connection to the maximum, it could have been:

3 months ~ 100 day ~ 2400 h ~ 144.000 min ~ 8.640.000 sec * 128 kb/s ~ 1000 GB

I'm using less then 20% of my potential. :(

Benno
03-05-2003, 02:59 PM
Paul forget my question abour your bandwith, since tilen showed me how much you can even download with a 128kbps connection.

I download as much as I can, at least among the stuff I like (read: anime!)

I probably average 1 GB a day for downloads and 2GB a day for uploads.

I have got 160 GB of storage since a few weeks. Before that I had 80 GB.

But I burn everything I download. I have got about 800 full CD-Rs. Mostly movies.

I have ADSL. Max speed around 500 KB/s.

If I didn't had a traffic limit, then I would download much more.

I download about 10 Gig per month, and have been using K-Lite for a while (not even sure how long at this point). All I know is I have to clean off all my hard drives once every month or so...

03-07-2003, 12:10 AM
Dunno really, only about 1-2 gig per month. I used to download a lot more before I got this new comp but I never watched half the movies or listened to most of the songs, so now I only download things I know i'm gonna watch/listen to.

I really stopped counting. I'm on my third 100pk and used up a 50 before those. Almost all are movies @ 700+/- mb range. Several game filled disks. So what 300 disks with 700mb ...210gb round to 200 plus whats on hard drive.

Uh oh..I think I'm becoming a file packrat.

soo many people share files now that I think the internet might have a secure/very limited feeling in the future. We will probably have to log in to about 1-2 government ISPs that are monitered 100% and you only have about 1-2 hours to use it.. hey, with the way people share stuff now..it might happen :( .
But! people like us allways find a way to get around things (i.e crackz, serialz, ahem warez). There's allways private networks :D

Excellent, The biggest load of Pi$h I have ever seen posted.

Few questions, which government is going to do this, how are they going to enforce it throughout the world. On what basis are they shutting down all of the existing ISPs.

I sincerely hope that you are serious about what you say. It really gives hope to everyone else out there.

I am replying only to encourage both upgreade to broadband and to share everything they can, because this is only how it is possible.

As of May 2001, I had no digital music, and no movies.

Games are another matter. I worry myself about that.

As of March 2003, I have all the music I want, 250 feature movies, another 200 worth in short features and television.

How much did I download?

Almost no music. Out of the 23 Gb of my digital music, I encoded it myself from my own CDs, my friends, or the public library, to the tune of more than half.

Almost all video. Out of the (I have no idea, 300-400Gb?) movies, I've actually only ripped two or three myself. And although I've also been allowed to mooch from my friends, and vice versa, I guess that all that stuff has been pretty much been downloaded.

Game producers and companies and designers make so little money that I am worried about the playable games I've downloaded.

That's a huge amount too.

My CD and DVD burner is busy all the time.
