Why do people drink bottled water when there's tap water readily available?

My hometown's water is great so I don't drink bottled water but other regions of England have really bad water which tastes awful so when I'm away I only drink bottled water.

If you had to drink the water that comes out of my taps Busyman, with its strong odour of chlorine and knowing that Im at the end of the mains line, which has to get flushed regularly by the Water Board because of the chemical build-up...

umm you would understand why I drink bottled water... and filtered water!

The water has a lot of horse poo in it, in Lincoln (comes from fields or something  ). So we have to have filtered water

Despite the hype, bottled water is neither cleaner nor greener than tap water

The message is clear: Bottled water is "good" water, as opposed to that nasty, unsafe stuff that comes out of the tap. But in most cases tap water adheres to stricter purity standards than bottled water, whose source — far from a mountain spring can be wells underneath industrial facilities. Indeed, 40 percent of bottled water began life as, well, tap water.

A 2001 World Wildlife Fund (WWF) study confirmed the widespread belief that consumers associate bottled water with social status and healthy living. Their perceptions trump their objectivity, because even some people who claim to have switched to bottled water "for the taste" can't tell the difference: When Good Morning America conducted a taste test of its studio audience, New York City tap water was chosen as the heavy favorite over the oxygenated water 02, Poland Spring and Evian. Many of the "facts" that bottled water drinkers swear by are erroneous. Rachele Kuzma, a Rutgers student, says she drinks bottled water at school because "it's healthier" and "doesn't have fluoride," although much of it does have fluoride.

yes. the plastic wears off.

you're probably safe with a couple re-uses though. I wouldn't do more than that however.

I drink bottled water even though the tap water in my area is perfectly fine and probably of a greater quality than the bottled water. I'm just a freak

Theres many different type of filters for purity and taste, I believe activated charcoal filter removes the chlorine taste, poison control centers usually tells chlorine poisoning victims to ingest AC until they can have there stomachs pumped at the hospital.

Watching that show prompted me to start this thread.
This week's show was about bottled water and Feng Shui decorators and hairstylists.
Last weeks show was about psychics like John Edward on Sci-Fi channel.

I agree with you Honey that SOME people (a very SMALL number) can't drink their tap water.

Most of you though, that drink bottled water ARE stupid.

1. In America, 33% of bottled water has bacteria and crap in it.

2. It also is regulated by the FDA instead of the EPA, which has less stringent standards.

3. Most bottled water is from the tap anyway. One bottled water actually says, "From Corpus Christi Municipal".......

4. Pepsi which has Dasani and Coke which has Aquefina realized the stupidity of people and basically makes more money from regular 'WATER' than SODA. Hint- They put more effort into making soda.

5. Almost no one can tell the difference between bottled and tap water (In most cases or unless you've got shit in your water).

What...did everyone's tap water ALL OF SUDDEN go bad?
I was never into this, as George Carlin said, "Buying my own personal portable water".

Buy a filter you stooges!!!!!
